Thoughts on the Clueless Committee

There are so many stupid selections:

Kansas is the overall #1 seed, yet:

1. The Committee puts the best #3 (Georgetown) in their bracket;

2. A 4 seed that is seeded as a #6 (UT) in their bracket; and

3. Ohio State (the best #2 seed) in their bracket?

Utterly stupid, especially when you have 4 teams from the SEC East in the Tourney.

What the hell does this group have against Tennessee? we always schedule tough like they want, but year after year (except for Bruce's first year), they bend the Vols over.

San Diego State is by far the toughest 11 seed in this tourney. They are more like a 8 or 9.

How do you make Kentucky the #2 overall, Vanderbilt a #4, put Florida in the Dance as a #10 and have UT a #6 in Kansas' bracket?

On the other hand, Kentucky cannot be happy having to see either Texas or Wake on the first weekend. Those two teams have the interior to give Kentucky fits.

I also think Temple is a very scary team for Kentucky to have in their bracket. WVU is a beast. They should have been a #1 seed. This committee did Kentucky no favors at all. I think the #3 in that bracket is the weakest 3, but the East is a beast with WVU, Texas, and Temple out there.

Vandy has to be very pleased with their draw. I think Vandy is Butler's worst SEC nightmare. And Syracuse is so schizo and may have a serious injury problem. Vandy has to like that road to the Great 8 and Kansas St. and Pitt as the 2 and 3 are teams Vandy can beat. I like Vandy's chances to get to the great 8 and they would be my Cinderella for the Final Four.

Florida gets bounced in the first game. BYU is nothing to sneeze at. The Gators are fortunate to get in, but they are likely gone early.

Ultimately, I think A&M probably got the seed we should have gotten. Wisconsin and Maryland getting 4 seeds over the Vols is a joke.

Kansas is the #1 team, but they get the toughest bracket, its makes absolutely no sense.

It seems like the committe loaded Kansas's bracket to give Duke the easiest road possible. Disgusting.

Tenn got killed by Kentucky (#1 seed) and fall from a 4 seed to 6. Purdue got blitzed by Minnesota (#11 seed) falls from a 2 to a 4 seed. Someone explain this.

SDSU is loaded. Long and athletic. Beaten New Mexico twice and UNLV.. Poor free throw shooters but relentless full court pressers. Have lost 8 games but 4 of those by less than 3 points. Lost @ Arizona State by 3 @ New Mexico by 2 and @ UNLV by 10.. Only blown out by ST. Mary's (who Just blew out Gonzaga).

We could be in serious trouble...

Get ready for a dose of SEC basketball.

I am not familiar with basketball East of Texas, at all. The Mountain West plays good basketball and I am sure that the Aztecs will be motivated to play you well. I am certain that Tennessee will be an extremely tough opponent. From what little I know about Eastern basketball is that your program has a top notch reputation. I am sure that you will live up to it. I have read, on this board, that you feel slighted by the selection committee. Good. We have something in common. If you feel snubbed you will come out and play inspired basketball. I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck to you!

Quit crying. When you have your star player miss a 2 footer unguarded it shows what kind of discipline you have on this team. We will not make it past the second round regardless of our seeding. We need to just hope that we do not get embarrassed again like we did against a Southwest Missouri. Pearl is a great development coach and really good during the season, but his tournament performances have been pretty mediocre.

So the discipline of our team can be defined by one missed layup by Chism? Not sure I would parallel our lack of discipline with a blown shot in one game...

Do I think we have a disciplined team...um, no...but I would point more to our arrest record, lack of effort when we get down double-digits (see embarrasing losses @ USC, @ GA, Vandy and our play AFTER the missed shot yesterday), and inability to consistently run sets before I'd point to a blown layup...

I'm hoping the ridiculous seeding does get the team motivated and we can string together our best play of the year, but I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect CBP to take over a basketball program that was largely a non-factor (in the SEC, much less nationally) and achieve consistent Final Four success in under 5 years...
