Obviously, this is fantastic news for Coach Martin and his staff. Now, this allows us to recruit without a dark cloud following us constantly. As some have alluded in other threads, Coach Martin doesn't have any excuses now as far as recruiting goes from here forward. Everything is in place for immediate results on the recruiting trail

However, what everyone needs to realize is that this is going to be a tough year regardless of who is roaming the sidelines. Pearl's ineffective recruiting have us in the middle of the pack in the SEC at best. So, while recognizing that Martin has no excuses on the recruiting trail, also recognize that he's not a miracle worker. And, a miracle worker would be needed to get this team to 20+ wins.

I'm not sure Helen Keller's miracle worker could get this team to 20+ wins. Call me pessimistic, but I don't think any more than 15-16.

I hate it that Toney Jones is so openly criticizing UT and it's legal staff about the alleged advice they were provided prior to the first interviews with the NCAA. I don't think, if he honestly knew more than he shared, that's UT's fault. If he got penalized for something that UT's legal counsel explicitly instructed him to do, that's a different story altogether.

Guess I still regret the whole debacle. Liked Coach Jones.

Now its time to recruit. Other schools can no longer use this against us. Go get them coach DD and ZO

To be fair, Coach Martin has been the closest thing to a miracle worker we've seen in his division at least. Yes, it was a crappy division, but the things he did at MSU were fairly impressive.

But, I still think it takes him at least two years to get anything done, and that assumes he does at all.

Tony Jones continues to prove that he is more suited for high school basketball. He has no one to blame but himself.

been referring to the very poor and probably incompetent legal counsel provided by Glazier. The coaches should have been afforded discovery prior to the interviews.

Good. Awesome news. Hopefully the basketball forum doesn't turn in to the football forum where we blame past coaches for the next 5 years. Doesn't take long to have success in basketball. If Cuonzo isn't in the NCAA next year('12-'13) he needs to be Donezo.

Calling the legal counsel incompetent because they didn't insist that you be truthful is comical, at best.

Great post! Agree 100%. Martin has the chance to show kids what he can do and hopefully they don't look at W/Ls at UT and decide to give us a better look. I really want a good basketball program so I'm pulling for the guy (even though he hasn't grown on me yet)

We will win maybe 10 to 12 games this year. Maybe 15 the year after. The reasoning behind recruiting 5 stars because of facsilities and tradition are pipe dreams. We have
been a national team to watch for the last six years with around 30 plus televised each
year. That to I am afraid is a thing of the past. Ever reaching a thirty win season again is also history. Sorry, but, thats the reality we face.

You're pathetic. Do yourself a favor and just quit following basketball and head back to your Bruce Pearl shrine.

I approve this message.

one of the tenants of our judicial system is that you can confront your accuser and know the evidence against you. I know the NCAA is not the legal system but since we live in the USA those same ideas should be carried over, e.g. they shouldn't be able to blindside you-"gotcha". I know many of you are holier than thou but under stress most would have done the same or worse.

Solid post.

Glad it's over.

This will be a tough season no doubt about it. All of the players are going to be taking on roles they've never experienced at this level until now. It's going to be interesting to see how this team responds.

Interesting to me that the whole "bump" thing that had people up in arms was conviently left out of the findings. Kinda ironic indeed.
