Thoughts on the MidWest Region Next Week

just to be fair, ga tech had an obvious size advantage on osu and lost. Ithink the reason is for osu athletic ability and ga tech having no one to score points outside of the paint.

yeah they both really folded at the end of their games.

I will assume you are simply agreeing and not being sarcastic. If the former, please stop reading.

If the latter, this is for you:

Michigan State lost their PG today. He's likely gone for the rest of the tournament. Here is the first sentence of the third paragraph of the Associated Press story on the game: "After Lucas went down with a leg injury, the Spartans blew a 16-point lead in the second half."

I guess you need a 30 point lead blown before it is a fold in your expert analysis of basketball.

Northnern Iowa turned the ball over 4 times in the last 3 minutes of the game when Kansas started pressing them on the in-bounds. More than 1 turnover a minute is pretty significant. :birgits_giggle:

I agree. They definitely folded; they were just lucky enough to hit a BS shot at the buzzer. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Northern Iowa win that game.

And that's with tech continually jacking 3's....

This. It doesn't matter what kind of bigs you have when the guards are turning the ball over as much as Ga. Tech did and when they turn down entry passes for terrible three point shots.

Georgia Tech looked like a very talented low post team that has no quality guard play and poor coaching.

The fact that the game was even close encourages me.

Ali bailed Northern Iowa out in that game. Terrible all around game from Kansas.

I hope your optimism is rewarded. However, the Buckeyes didn't get where they are by being a pushover. I understand the match ups and all, but they do have talent. We will have to show up to beat them and not have one of our "off" days.

Hewitt should be fired for how he under-utilized Favors this year.

He should be fired for his "gameplan" today. Jacking 3's and letting Diebler get wide open multiple times resulted in tech losing control of the game. Gtech just looked terrible at times today. OSU should have won that game by 20.

I'm not sure who Jai Lucas is, but if we somehow prevail against tOSU, and MSU prevails over N. Iowa, it will be nice to not have to worry about Kalin Lucas.

I think he's a pathetic floor coach.

Favors should have gotten 25 touches per game. I know he was in foul trouble today, but OSU couldn't stop him in the 2nd half and they didn't go to him. Horrific.

Hewitt is an embarrassment to the profession.

I can't remember UT having such an opportunity like this one...They need to break on through now and get the sweet sixteen monkey off their backs and get to the elite 8 for the first time ever and then take it from there....Going to be an exciting week for sure!

I rewatched the first 12 minutes of the OSU/Ga. Tech game to try to figure out who the Ga. Tech coaching staff chose to guard from OSU with their PF. I thought it was Buford early on when I saw Lawal on him and then as I watched I realized that Georgia Tech's players (especially Peacock) had no idea who they were supposed to be guarding. It was bizarre. One time down court, Peacock would take Diebler; next time it would be Lighty; after that, Buford. Then Lawal came back in the game and took Lighty.

Had Ohio State tried to do anything other than have Turner go 1 on 5, that game would have been over very early on. They had guys standing unguarded throughout the first 15 minutes of that game.

Make no mistake - Ohio State is going to be tough. If we have an off night it will get ugly quick.

Personally, let Turner score 25 and shut everyone else down. That'd be my gameplan.

Bone is going to be needed in this game. I hope he gets some of Pearl's' minutes. He's a better defender on the perimeter.

I just hope the talking heads tell us all week about how this is Ohio State's region to lose. From a mental standpoint, I could not ask for a better set-up.
