I know we are a much different team today than we were when we played UCLA, but it makes me wonder how on earth we lost to them! Temple is playing their hearts out, but man UCLA looks terrible.

losing to UCLA at home was equivalent to Alabama losing to ULM. huge embarrassment.

IMHO, poor coaching and horrible play-calling. That one is squarely on Kiff's shoulders. Granted , he was still in the learning-curve of the team personnel, but the 4th down call on the 1 1/2 yard line with the game on the line is one I'll bet CLK wishes he had back. U.C.L.A. had 9 nine men in the box and Monterio had NO chance. Norm Chow went all in (literally) and we bit. Crompton could have play-faked and WALKED into the end-zone, like Peyton did against Alabama. Not just that play. Kiff was way too conservative all day. Had we played them in Oct./Nov., Vols win big. Don't get me wrong. I love CLK and staff and what they're doing; where they're taking the Vol program. I'm just saying I bet when Kiff & Co. reviewed the game film, it was a quantum leap in learning "on the job". GO VOLS and BEAT V.T.!!!

Crompton had been awful the entire game. Kiffin did the right thing by putting the game on Hardesty at the end. It just came up a foot short.

That was the last game I went to and I agree we are a totally different team today! Our play calling was limited by the QB play. THANKFULLY, that has turned around in a big way!

If you rewatch the game, it will take you all of about 10 minutes to realize that we lost that game because Crompton completed as many passes to UCLA as he did to UT.

Crompton couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a handful of gravel that day. Kiffin did the only thing that was available for him.

Isn't Norm Chow the OFFENSIVE Coordinator?

Obviously we aren't the same team now that we were when we played UCLA. If we had continued to play the same way throughout the season and Crompton would have continued his struggles we might not even be mentioning a bowl-game for ourselves.

I was just about to post the same thing. If we had played the whole season like we did against UCLA, we would have been lucky to win 5 games. Amazing what happens when you have a coaching staff who can actually help a team improve during the season.

Opinions, opinions. Isn't it great that we can express them on this forum? I didn't mean that Crompton play-faking was the only call. I'm merely saying that Hardesty up the middle was what Chow was expecting and those two defensive tackles had been stuffing us all day. Hell, Montario on a power-sweep would have carried the day. Oh well, just my opinion. No more; no less. Better days ahead, my friends. GO VOLS!!!:pepper:

It was a day in Cromptonian History ,,, as was the 4th quarter of the Auburn game when he started to come to the light.

Chow? Why would he be calling defensive plays?
