Thoughts on UT baseball after the opening series

The scouts sure paid attention at 100 mph. Some of them changed rows to get closer to the backstop.

I’m not CFA, but I’d think opposing batters would get timing thrown off going from facing a guy who doesn’t touch 100 mph, to Joyce, and possibly back to another guy who doesn’t touch 100 mph.

Joyce/Kirby combo would appear to be pretty lethal.

Heat followed by finesse.

Agree with a lot of your points. We appear to be deep, have big bats throughout the lineup, some nice arms, and swagger. My only concern is replacing the defense that Fergy and Spence gave us up the middle and I also think runners will test Russell, behind the plate.
Other than that, I think we are solid!
GBO!!

I share your concern about Russell, but Pavolony only threw out 8 runners last year. Russell can’t be worse. I do think Lawson and Ortega are solid up the middle, but Spence and Ferguson were more than solid.

Coming and going advantage?

Small word of warning......scouting reports do not exist for the most part right now except on returning players. Even then, Ga Southern probably doesnt have a report as in depth as a conference opponent will have. NTL, great way to begin the season.
