Three keys against Ole Miss

Tough draw to open the tourney. Seems like they always wind up with a tough path to Sunday every year. Guards need to play well, take care of the ball and hit those open shots. I'd feed it to Maymon and Stokes and let Golden drive the lane. They do that well, they'll win.

Honestly, I feel a lot better about Ole Miss than I do about LSU or Bama. Florida will have their hands full and I'm thinking LSU gives Kentucky one heck of a game.

Another key will be Dwight Miller repeating his 4 of 8 shooting with 2 out of 3 from three and grabbing 7 rebounds in 16 minutes. Uh....maybe we shouldn't count on this again.

My gut tells me we lose this game now that the pressure is on.

I'm pretty sure Coach Martin has had the pressure on them for a while now. Seriously, they have won some big time games down the stretch to get to where they are now. This one is no different.

Hopefully we get a different officiating crew than the one that stunk up Ole Miss/Aub. The rebs were on the 1 and 1 before the tigers ever got a call...which came after at least two hard fouls on Aub drives to the basket that the refs swallowed their whistles on.

Early in the game at TBA we missed 3-pters and turned the ball over and fell behind 15-2. McBee was never a factor in the game and Stokes didn't come alive until the second half.

Stokes needs to touch the ball early and often...and Maymon just needs to be Maymon.

I still feel that if we win this we are in, it would give us the most top 100 RPI victories of any bubble team I do believe

I just hope Tatum takes the first shot from the corner and swishes it. It seems like you can always tell what kind of game Tatum is going to have by the first few minutes.

I don't know why, but this game scares the hell out of me. Feels very similar to the Alabama game when we were on a roll.

I dono maybe I haven't seen Ole Miss play enough this year but every time I've seen them, they aren't very good. Martin knows everything we know (and then some) and with Maymon and Stokes in the paint, no way Ole Miss gets those 2nd chance points. Auburn wasn't blocking out at all and was just plain horrible. Ole Miss is not a very good team and I could see us winning by 13-15 points.

The only thing I'm wondering about is how the game is going to be called. It will no doubt be physical so I'm really hoping the refs let them play it out. We've had to grind it out all season and I just don't see our defense letting us down tonight.

4.) Tennessee MUST outscore Ole Miss.

This is the most important thing!

1. Guard play. Only had eleven turnovers, one in the second half. If Golden and McRae play well, Tennessee should win.

2. Tennessee has to rebound, and rebound well. Ole Miss is the best rebounding team in the SEC, and UT had a +15 advantage on the boards. That is unlikely to happen, but they still need to have that advantage.

3. Ole Miss zoned us almost all game. We shot 5-17 from three. If we can get that number to 40%, it will be a blowout. UT has to kick and drive.

By doing these, UT can achieve #4. I love teamwork. Nice job, guys.

Stokes can not pick up 2 quick fouls like he seems to do pretty regularly.

We need maymon and stokes out there for 30 minutes each tonight.

Agree, Vols got the better draw of the top seeds. LSU looked good last night. For reasons I don't get Bama doesn't match up well with USCe, but ground out a win anyway. I think Vols match up well against Ol' Miss. Look for Rebels to be in zone all night so we need some outside shots to fall and/or get second chance points in paint on rebounds. Unless they just have one of those nights they can't throw it in the ocean standing on the beach (see Bama game) then Vols win and most likely win by double digits.:good!:

Their "gut" must be illogical as well.

They use statistics. Not "gut".

I could see us losing, but saying it's because of pressure seems disjointed from reality. Unless you think theres a lot more pressure today than the last two games of the season. Over the last 2 weeks, we've been playing single elimination games, especially vs. Vandy

I do think there is more pressure now.

After watching the video of CCM rallying the players during practice in NO...and the leadership he's displaying..

Whoa. Your gut may want a do-over.
