He’s still collecting his buyout from S Car. Now, he gets to coach first round draft picks. Here, he would coach guys that would never see the field for Georgia. If I were Heupel I would offer some money up to Muschamp. He isn’t making that much at UGA. Say what you will about him as a head coach but he is a really good coordinator and recruiter. Also if you made him DC he could also coach DBs.
I still think it’s pretty unlikely Heupel fires Banks now, but if he does or Banks leaves on his own, my top candidate would be Ryan Walters at Illinois. He’s had good defenses there and in his previous job at Missouri.I like the Derek Mason idea. He has recruiting ties to the areas UT recruits and is a fantastic defensive mind. Also would seem gettable, given the attraction to the SEC, bigger program, and Gundy is weird.
For the poster who mentioned Missouri’s DC, his name is Blake Baker. He’s young and just signed an extension this month.
For those who don’t know, Phil Parker is the Iowa DC.

I'm actually all for this. Banks and Martinez have been godawful. The development of the secondary plays has been horrid and Banks made zero adjustments last night. There's no excuse giving up 63 to $hit offense.
