Ticket Prices

This is the double edged sword of success. More success = more demand. How were the tickets purchased? Seat Geek, Stub Hub are both resale sites that charge their own (excessive) fees. Don’t think I’ve ever bought football tickets through Ticketmaster. Maybe they own the resale sites too? Honestly I was interested in going to the UVA game until I saw the 12:30pm kickoff. Oh well.
These tickets were Austin Peay,120.00 dollars!!It cost over 200.00 dollars now to go to a game after you pay for food, consessions and gas money even to a Austin Peay game!People will begin to stay at home and watch!!

There is a growing segment of the population who think nothing about what they or their businesses pay for entertainment. Danny White recognized that on new pricing structure as do the Titans as planning for new stadium and existing PSL holders. While some choose to stay at home to watch games, there are others with income they choose to spend on entertainment.

I've pretty much stopped going to live concerts and sporting events. I don't know why anyone pays these outrageous prices
Going to Calhoun's, tailgating, hearing the band crank up Rocky Top, the roar of the crowd when the T opens, 100,000 screaming fans from snap 1 till the clock hits 00:00, and lastly but most importantly memories with my son that will last a lifetime. You can't get that atmosphere at home no matter how good your setup is (and I've got a great one). I had to move to Louisville this offseason and I will still spend the money to travel to Knoxville every game that I can. Just depends on if my sons playing that day or not. An $86 ticket isn't outrageous (even with the ticket fees from Ticketmaster/Stubhub).

It's not just $86. Gas and Food and you're talking a few hundred dollars.

Just my opinion, but that's ridiculous

If you think it's worth it, then have a great time. The atmosphere at the game is incredible

hotels are unbelievably high, food and gas too. For me, its at least one night stay. Can't believe how expensive everything is now.

These prices may be inline with other prices and what some are willing to pay. But it is expensive.
In addition, there is more to pay for when you attend a game. But to attend games from out of town costs $1000s.
And yes, tickets are a part of that. To be fair before anyone argues its because we are back winning. Ticket prices never went down even when we went 3-7 and we were not competitive for a decade.

The gas is a different story. That crap is as high as Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg sitting around the living room chain smoking J's together.

Have you seen hotels? In my small little town on weekends now they're 175$ or more a night. Johnson City where I travel to quite a bit are 200 plus on weekends right now. Absolutely ridiculous. Pure gouging

Add parking, food and concession's to that ticket price and it's well over 250.00 dollars!

Its supply and demand. As long as someone is willing to pay it, they will continue to raise prices. For UT games, any business would capitalize on the events because its more money in their pockets. They don't care about people. It's all about the mighty dollar.

There are lower price tickets in the upper deck for season ticket holders. There are also special prices for large groups at non SEC games.

I believe that our ticket office has a problem in letting this happen. They should not sell so many tickets to ticket Master etc. and permit them to mark up the ticket prices so much. I know, it is easier fro them, but it screws the fans who are not season ticket buyers. Fans who can not afford season tickets are now being priced out of the ability to purchase single game tickets. These fans are some of our strongest fans but don't have the resources to see games at regular prices. The same thing happens with shows and concerts which are held in public facilities. The tickets I can not use, I sell at face value. However, it is becoming difficult to determine the face value of even the games against non SEC teams.

UT has not sold their own single tickets in many years . Their goal is to sell out of season tickets. They have used StubHub , Vivid Seats and now Ticketmaster for other tickets. Titans have moved to Seat Geek since preferred NFL vendor.

Kern Campbell with Game Day Culture wrote an article in May 23 about why college football tickets are so high, sorry I can't cut and paste. One of the top reasons is the number of student tickets that are sold at a discounted rate. Danny White increased the student sections when the grandfathered tickets ended. Those tickets are no longer available when single tickets are sold. Ohio States average ticket is $400 while Tennessee is $200 according to his chart. I'm sure Tennessee is higher this year. Both Georgia and Alabama is over $300.
