In this era, we're so used to seeing kids commit and decommitt so easily because they are committing to the coach versus playing for the school. I know Ferguson isn't rated as a high-value player (for all you star-gazers), but, it is just nice to see some of these guys commit because they want to play for the school.

Ferguson's quote on the (inevitable, IMO) coaching change:

“I’m worried about it, of course,” Ferguson said. “He’s the head coach and stuff like that. It just worries me right now, but they haven’t fired him or nothing like that, so I’m not really listening to anything until something actually happens.

“But I’m committed to Tennessee for Tennessee. I mean, the coaches there, you have to like them and stuff, but I’m going there because of the school.

“I mean, it’s going to affect me a little bit, but I don’t know if that would change my decision or anything like that.”

He said he would be interested in getting to know the Vols’ new coaches if Dooley isn’t retained. But he said he doesn’t have any interest in exploring other options, and he doesn’t expect to waver on his commitment.

“If that does happen,” Ferguson said, “I’ll just have to get close to the coaches that come in and just start working with them so we can go win some games.”

And for the record, his quote says "...they haven't fired him or nothing like that,..."

I would like to add "publicly, yet" to that quote.

So, Riley, I fyq (fixed your quote). :)

Riley ain't goin nowhere else!

He's a "good " QB , but not great , he'll back up Peterman , who will also stay.

I just hope Dooleys o line recruits don't go anywhere.

Riley Ferguson is a class act and I am very pleased by his comments. For posters like mrredskin, please grow up.

Good god, that first quote is quite an assault on the English language...

Yeah, it kind of makes me wonder if the kid will qualify academically. However, I do appreciate what the kid has to say about sticking to his commitment... even in the face of possible coaching changes at UT.

GBO!

is this the first quote you've ever read from a recruit? I doubt many here would have done much better at 17yo.

yeah, since most of us were still learning cursive, multiplication tables, and geography at 17...

By his sports logos, I wonder if "mrredskin" is even a UT fan. Looks like he follows Tennessee Tech and Duke.

Hi carpbc...Mr Redskin and I attended the TTU at Oregon game together back in September. I can vouch for him. He is a die-hard Vols fan. A man with a lot of energy!!! He requires 4-5 teams in various sports to keep his mind simulated. Lol!

Seriously, he is a good guy!

good ole Riley...

Asking a naive question here, how old do you have to be to get a tattoo? Any laws on that?

Hard not to like a kid with this kind of commitment, if it's as true as he states.

Wasn't Randall Cobb really interested and committed to coming to U.T., but no one here offered him?
The new coaching staff may not offer Riley. For instance, Kiffin did not offer Taji Boyd, after Fulmer had offered him.

Nice reach there, chief. He doesn't speak the most eloquent of sentences and you are worried about him qualifying. Wow.

Smarter than today's average recruit .
