Tidbit from QB Commit Riley Ferguson

Wasn't Randall Cobb really interested and committed to coming to U.T., but no one here offered him?
The new coaching staff may not offer Riley. For instance, Kiffin did not offer Taji Boyd, after Fulmer had offered him.

Dooley is selling UT, not himself or his staff. not because he is a noble man, but because nobody would buy him or his staff. most of these 3 stars are committed because theyre impressed by the school or the players. not the staff. JMO

In this era, we're so used to seeing kids commit and decommitt so easily because they are committing to the coach versus playing for the school. I know Ferguson isn't rated as a high-value player (for all you star-gazers), but, it is just nice to see some of these guys commit because they want to play for the school.

Ferguson's quote on the (inevitable, IMO) coaching change:

Welcome aboard young man.. the kind of attitude we need in vol land.

I believe you can get one anytime with parental consent... I believe... If not, It's 17 or 18 W/O parental consent.

I looked it up...in Tennessee, 16 with parents consent...18 w/o.

Not saying Riley did this...

It seems if you get a tattoo at 14, your body is still going to grow more and mess up the artwork

Yeah, it kind of makes me wonder if the kid will qualify academically. However, I do appreciate what the kid has to say about sticking to his commitment... even in the face of possible coaching changes at UT.

GBO!

Are you serious? The kid doesn't use perfect grammar in a interview and your wondering if he is going to qualify academically. If that was the case then 75% of recruits wouldn't make it into school. He's 17, he doesn't have to speak like a college professor.

The grow up part applies to you also.

+1

is this the first quote you've ever read from a recruit? I doubt many here would have done much better at 17yo.

Well put:good!:

By his sports logos, I wonder if "mrredskin" is even a UT fan. Looks like he follows Tennessee Tech and Duke.

Duke's recruits wouldn't use such grammer.

yeah, since most of us were still learning cursive, multiplication tables, and geography at 17...

It's a dead language

Riley Ferguson is a class act and I am very pleased by his comments. For posters like mrredskin, please grow up.

Agreed.

The kid..is a kid ,,quit bashing ..bet he'll end up with some sort of a degree.. better than 99.9% of us bloggers.. if all the kids had his attitude the attrition after Fulmer n Kiffin wouldn't bn as bad.....oh im typing from a phone so forgive the spelling mis ques

Kinda puts to pressure on the school now. NCAA (schools) say you should sign for the school and not the coach. Well, this young man has stated that. I want him at UT (one thing Dooley has done well is sign QBs every class and good QBs).

Riley ain't goin nowhere else!

He's a "good " QB , but not great , he'll back up Peterman , who will also stay.

I just hope Dooleys o line recruits don't go anywhere.

He did pretty well at the Elite 11, but hey, why trust that group to evaluate QBs when we got fans who will do it for free!

There's more 3* guys in the NFL than there are 4* and 5* guys.

The star rating system is total garbage and it was created for PRESS reasons and to give football fans something to talk about in the offseason.

On National Signing Day it helps ESPN and other PR firms make more $$$$ in the offseason just exactly like the NFL combine and the draft does.

Ranking teams based on the higher star power is just more PR money making garbage.

How high has K State been ranked the last 5 years?

Boise?

MSU?

Texas A&M?

VFL...GBO!!!

Tennessee has the worse fans out of the SEC maybe the country.....

Im a member of Tidefan,Cockytalk,Tigernation etc.....

It just blows my mind a kid talks about how he loves Tennessee and he doesnt care who is the coach. He just wants to be a Vol.

And you people just make fun of him.

No other Rival VN board would ever do this

Maybe we deserve a sh**ty coach, it will go along with out sh**ty fanbase.

The kid is SEVENTEEN! As unfortunate as it may be, that's how a lot of teenagers speak these days. It doesn't mean they're unintelligent. Of all the things there are to talk about, analyzing a kid's speech from a single interview and using that to question his ability to qualify should never even come up. This is ridiculous.

Do you know where he ended up in the final rankings? I watched a couple of the earlier episodes, but had to start working late for a while and wasn't able to see anymore.

I figured this kid would have been rated higher because of the elite11 camp, oh well really like his outlook and we need to welcome his positive attitude coming to this program thats struggling!!!

You guys have got to ge kidding. I mean 90% of the recruits coming out of high school now have trouble stringing together two comprehend able thoughts. Wow! And for the record Fergerson was on ESPN's Elite 11 QB show and got great reviews. I mean you folks do follow recruiting right?
