While I hope I'm so wrong, I'll be the laughingstock of planet Terra, I think Bama wins. And wins decisively though we put up a fine fight for the first time in a long time. Here's why:

1. We're Bama's chance to silence the Oregon crowd. So the Red Team is coming out to hang as many points on us as they possibly can. No quarter, no retreat, no surrender, and no prisoners is the type of game we will face.

2. It's not that we can't play with Bama, it's our lack of depth that is our Achilles' heel. So for 2.5-3.0 quarters we will probably hang with them. Then the depth issue becomes evident.

What I hope happens: The juniors and seniors have been humiliated so much and so often in the past, they play with an all or nothing attitude. They want to eliminate the bad taste they've had to endure in the past, including the worst defense in UT history label. Our guys may very well enter this game with a Duk Koo Kim vs. Ray Mancini attitude and do what Duk didn't manage to do.

As fresh as this team has looked against USC and UGA and with us getting most of the few guys out back this week aside from Couch I'm actually not concerned about our stamina in the 4th. There is only one thing I worry about with team117 - offensive stagnation. We still see it and did last week in the third quarter. Luckily we've gone from full halves of it to one quarter. If we have a quarter with no TD's against Bama I'm pretty certain they'll win but progress is being made so we will see. When this offense becomes consistent for 4 quarters I don't care how flashy or not they are it'll be on.

I think the only way is that we score early and pressure them to make plays, what I saw against USCe was the pocket our D-lineman staying in rushing lanes are getting better...Big Dan will be the difference Good or Bad..because the red team likes to run the middle and off tackle....within Big Dans reach...and if you don't think he makes a difference listen to Mike Davis that pointed to Big Dan as the game changer...

Depth is the real issue. Our guys are going to have to really dig deep to hang with them for the full 4 quarters. Hopefully, our O will give our D more than 3 and out so they can rest.

I saw that.

Tn is a better team playing Bama than the team that went to Oregon. Not saying Tn beats Oregon right now and they wouldn't. But Tn was clueless in that Oregon game on Def. Tn has a better chance at Bama than they did at Oregon. imo Oregon is better than Bama

I agree. We definitely will find out if your right this weekend!

The only negative to the Vols winning Saturday would be ruining Bama's shot at destroying the Ducks. I have a visceral disliking for Bama, but I want to see the Ducks get plucked.

There are ZERO negatives to beating Bama..............ever. Go Vols!

After going to the game in Oregon earlier this year and seeing how nice those people were to UT fans, I would be happy to see the Ducks beat Bama.

I agree. PLUS, the match-up with Bama is much more favorable for us than it was with Oregon. I think Bama will have a very difficult time covering the spread, and I believe we could very well steal a win!

GBO!

I would have it no other way than your description in No. 1 below.

The VOLS have made immense strides this season even if the record doesn't show it.
We beat GA except for a silly rule. The boys earned it either way and for that I'm proud.
I feel that the near win instilled some pride and confidence that shined through in the win vs USC jr.
I fear we are not deep enough to take on BAMA yet, but am hoping for a great fight ( and pray I'm wrong).
Either way the team is growing together taking great strides and shows a great promise yet to be realized. I'm proud of our VOLS and big daddy Butch.
Great things are coming with this team.

Oh they'll run it up if they get the chance. Saban knows the pollsters are watching this game and will compare it to the Oregon game. No matter Tennessee is a much improved team.

I think you are over thinking this thing. Alabama doesn't give two flying farts what Oregon thinks of them. All they have to do is take care of business and they are in the NC game. If Oregon makes it then Alabama can prove whatever the hell they want to to them.

I just hope the TCB is done by the Vols this weekend and then that point is moot :)

Coach Saban won't be looking to run up the score on anyone. If you watched his reaction on the Derrick Henry TD in the 4th with the game practically over, he was pissed that Henry took it to the house instead of getting the first down and then getting down inbounds. Saban cares less about the points and the beauty contest of the polls. He is looking for results and to see if everyone plays to their potential against UT.

Why would Alabama be concerned about Oregon? FSU is second in the BCS if Bama wins out they are in the NCCG. Worst thing that would happen is FSU jumps them.

If Oregon wins out and FSU win out, Oregon will jump FSU in the BCS rankings due to strength of schedule.
