The only negative to the Vols winning Saturday would be ruining Bama's shot at destroying the Ducks. I have a visceral disliking for Bama, but I want to see the Ducks get plucked.

If Oregon wins out and FSU win out, Oregon will jump FSU in the BCS rankings due to strength of schedule.

After going to the game in Oregon earlier this year and seeing how nice those people were to UT fans, I would be happy to see the Ducks beat Bama.

Totally agree with you. Oregon Fans were super nice folks. I think the Ducks will beat Bama down. It won't even be close. I love the SEC, but will be pulling for the Ducks if they play Bama. GBO...

Unfortunately this is an away game. We've not played well on the road this year. While one could argue that we are a much different team then when we played Florida I still don't like our chances on the road. I think its imperative to come out and play fast, score quickly and silence the crowd early. If we can get to the fourth quarter with a lead, a tie, or a only down a score, we have a serious chance of upsetting them. We need to play to "win" each half. Butch has a really good record when leading at half time, he is 43-2. While that may seem unrealistic to hope for a lead at halftime against Alabama if it can be done I like our chances in the second half. That being said it is also crucial that the offense avoids too many three and outs. We were fortunate last week that our Defense played extremely well in the fourth Quarter to give our offense several opportunities to go and win the game. We can't afford a third quarter like had against SC if we are going to win. Last year the third quarter killed any chance of winning the game and Alabama exerted their will.

Would it not be nice to go 4-0 from bye week to bye week. Dreaming I know but this would be the biggest group of upsets in the history of College Football, a #9, #1, #5 and a #11 in a row.

Yes I am on drugs but just think about it. #9 is history, 1-0. 1/4 of the way there. Anything can happen on a given Saturday especially when kids are involved.

I know Alabama out mans and out guns us, but after 10 years of not looking forward to this game I am just wanting to see what team 117 can do even with just sucker punch chance.

While I hope I'm so wrong, I'll be the laughingstock of planet Terra, I think Bama wins. And wins decisively though we put up a fine fight for the first time in a long time. Here's why:

1. We're Bama's chance to silence the Oregon crowd. So the Red Team is coming out to hang as many points on us as they possibly can. No quarter, no retreat, no surrender, and no prisoners is the type of game we will face.

2. It's not that we can't play with Bama, it's our lack of depth that is our Achilles' heel. So for 2.5-3.0 quarters we will probably hang with them. Then the depth issue becomes evident.

What I hope happens: The juniors and seniors have been humiliated so much and so often in the past, they play with an all or nothing attitude. They want to eliminate the bad taste they've had to endure in the past, including the worst defense in UT history label. Our guys may very well enter this game with a Duk Koo Kim vs. Ray Mancini attitude and do what Duk didn't manage to do.

1) I dont think Saban gives a 'duck poo' about the 3rd team in the BCS . He beats everybody 40-17.

2) Bama beats teams in the 2nd quarter . They outscore their opponents like 100-6 in the 2nd quarter. The 2nd half is typically , run the ball and occasional play action. Burn the clock. This tells me that they do not wait to make half-time adjustments. They make second quarter adjustments. Our key is to survive the second quarter and apply the old boxing adage..take the puncher to the later rounds ( see LSU and A & M )

I agree with your summary . Juniors and seniors must play very angry football and let it all hang out . Butch must call plays to win and not merely survive . Maybe alot of luck is needed to pull this off. Fingers are crossed.

I think the team will play out of their minds this weekend. But, in order to win the defense will have to step up big time and put A.J. on his back and force him to turn the ball over. If the defense can score once and help out the offense then there could be a really good chance the upset happens.
