Tiffany's Thread (updates and prayers, and a place where she can smack Joe in public when he needs it :)

They may have found something today, but I don't know how to explain it until the report. Her urine is pooling up, that's what the test was for, on the inside around her stoma, instead of draining straight out. He explained to her what may be the problem, but she doesn't remember everything he said. I'll update once we can see it on their portal. That one takes a couple of days though.

Praying it's something they can fix

She hasn't spoken with her dr that ordered the tests yet, but she does have the report now. There's basically a collapse in her urinary tract on one side, and where it connects to the part they made. The tubes stretched it out, so it wasn't seen when they done the reflux test at mayo. It's not something that would show up on an xray, or even an mri, only by doing the test they done yesterday. She had tubes and/or stents the other couple of times for this test, and even the canera, so they've never seen it without them. Mayo had told her last year if they could find this problem, they could fix it, but it's hard with tubes and stuff. I don't know if it's the root cause of everything, but it does explain the infections, pain, etc. Idk if mayo will still want to fix it, or if it'll fix things, but it is something, and we've had nothing for so long. I told her not even wait on her dr to call (she wouldn't be doing surgery anyway), told her email results to mayo, and adk if they'll help with it still. Her dr won't mind, she wants her to get help, that's why she ordered tge tests.

Okay, this is actually backwards, the side lit up is actually the right side. What you see here, and why it's lit up, is the contrast the injected that glows for the images. You can see one side is lit up, all the way to the kidney at the top, the ureter is fine on that side. The other (technically left) they could barely get anything into the ureter, because it's collapsed, and not connected good. The kidney type looking thing at the bottom, is actually the inside of the stoma part they made that acts as a bladder. If you notice at the bottom of it, right side of picture, that's urine pooling up, because it's going outside of it, because it's not connected good. If you zoom in, it looks like (in the picture) the right side isn't connected at all, it's barely hanging on. If you look in the middle of the ureter on the right side of the picture, you can actually see where it's collapsed almost completely in the middle. What's happening, her urine isn't getting through, and backs up into her kidney. What little does get through, most of it doesn't go into the made bladder type area, but leaks outside. The Dr's said this absolutely could be causing everything, and it needs fixed! It'll require surgery, but if this works, I'm excited to think about if it does! If I didn't make sense, both sides should be lit up like the left side of the picture.

Mom had the same issue. That backup means basically constant infection bc it never drains fully. They basically redid moms plumbing with staples and stents. Mom still has issues. I hope and pray in tiffs case the drs can do something to fix it and it stay fixed.
