Jack Nicklaus has won 113 tournaments in his day, 83 PGA tours, has nearly $9 million in career earnings, had the lowest season scoring average and was the top money earner from 1964-1965 and 1971-1976, has won 28 major tournaments with 18 in the PGA, 8 in the Senior PGA and 2 amateurs. He was also named 5-time PGA Player of the Year, 1970's Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Decade, and named the greatest golfer ever by Sports Illustrated, Golf Magazine, Associated Press, Golfweek, GolfWorld, PGATour.com, ESPN, BBC and Today's Golfer.

And Tiger's better?

Here's a good website.

Given the changes in the game, I think Tiger's better start than Nicklaus is only because of the increased driving distance of the game. You take that away add the fact that there WERE more skilled players back then than now, they are neck and neck. Nicklaus maybe a little better.

The game has changed so much in forty years it's really hard to compare the two. But I think Nicklaus' dominance will probably go unchallenged for good. But Tiger could very well end up the second best golfer of all time, and probably will given he doesn't crap out.

I'm enjoying reading the opinion of amateurs and their opinions. And Robert Tyre Jones, Jr. And p.s. Robert Tyre Jones ,Jr won 13 majors.

Ever heard of Thomas Sturges Watson? Nicholas Alexander Faldo? Samuel Jackson Snead? William Billy Casper? Eugene Saracini? Some reasonable players to consider.

In my view - Tiger is somewhere between Tom Watson and Arnold Palmer. He's still a couple of majors away from the Hogan, Nelson, Snead, comparisons. And he's about 5-7 majors away from Nicklaus/Jones comparisons.

The thing with Tiger is that he now has to SUSTAIN his greatness which will be the toughest challenge of all.

To ToddBond 006... yeah add up the majors of players Nicklaus beat. Palmer 7, Casper 3, Player 8, Miller 2, Weiskoph 1, Floyd 3, Nelson 3, Ballesteros 3, Faldo 6, Watson 8, Jacklin 2, Irwin 3,Snead 7, Hogan 9 for a total of 64 major nobodys. And I left out some more. Name the CHAMPIONS has Eldrick beaten? I'll be waiting... :nono:
