On Dan Le Batard's show here in Miami today, Tim proudly proclaimed "I hate gay people."

Yes. Tim said he would not want a gay player on his team or in his locker room. When Dan told him that was blatantly homophobic, Tim replied with "I hate gay people." He went on to say that he doesn't think they should be allowed in America.

I guess he didn't do himself any favors in advancing his analyst career after that one dreadful and short stint on ESPN.

Given the substantial gay populations in the Bay Area and Miami, I can't imagine how miserable Tim must have been playing most of his career with the Warriors and Heat. That is comparable to someone who believes in Prohibition living in Dublin or someone who detests gambling living in Las Vegas.

that's what i was thinking about. how did this not leak out during his playing days? i mean he must've been around it all the time. why didn't he go off then?

Well, when you make the money Tim was making in his heyday, you can pretty much isolate yourself from your surroundings. Tim has the rep in South Beach as the kind of guy who demands total VIP treatment when he comes to a club. My guess is he made sure security shielded him from those he says he detests.

This is my favorite qoute from the Kentucky board:

He is a great guy and had a bad ass cross over. I like him even more. Far too many people act as if they are just light years ahead of people in the social dept. b/c they are tolerant of sodomites.....its a disgraceful day and age!

Ive had experiance with a lizzy and a male sodomite in the workplace and both were double crossing weasels.I seen both of them (over the course of 3 years) backstab the very people who got them their jobs over worthless reasons. My point ...they have no ethics(at least these 2 did not)! they would stab their mothers in the back. We treated these unworhty sodomites with courtesy and they would smile in your face and talk $h!+ about you and others behind their backs on a daily basis. In the end they got what they deserved,but I would have never hired them in the first place. My experiance with gays are they are by enlarge weasels with no morals across the board. I will never play the PC game for a sodomite....NEVER!

Is this person 100 years old or just a complete idiot?

This is my only thing. Why do you have to announce it? I don't need Sam Bowie to announce he was straight. It's all to make $ not because it liberates them. Why did that guy from n sync come out, publicity.

Also it really bothers me when people compare gay people to black people or any other race. I've known gay guys that I liked so that guy on the Kentucky board must have issues. I wish T.H. wouldn't have said hate or that stuff BUT even if he said he wouldn't like it and was nice about it I think the national media still would have jumped on him for it.

He might have still gotten taken to task, but it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. There's a huge difference between saying "I'll be honest . . . I think it would have made me uncomfortable" and "I hate gay people."
