Enough about the Tampa 2...all this hype and it's just a variation of the cover 2. What really matters is that Monte will bring his whole playbook. He's not gonna be running Tampa 2 every down...that's stupid...no really that would be ignorant, especially against the spread on a passing down. Aaarggh. It's just one freakin play that can have variations with blitzes and combos. ITS NOT THE BASE SET....THE 4-3 IS THE BASE SET THAT MONTE WILL RUN. This is like saying we're gonna be good because Lane is bringing the Half-back screen on offense. This is more so directed at the fellow vol pasting a description of the tampa 2.

Urlacher runs a 4.58 to a 4.62.

So one of the best MLB's in the league, who is in a Tampa Two system runs a 4.6? And your saying he's too slow to play MLB, but could be an OLB? That's just ignorant.

Also, Gary Brackett, the Colts MLB ran it in 4.7. Guess he has no chance at being a good MLB in the Tampa Two does he?

Doesn't have the speed to play middle linebacker. Unless, his 40 time is while wearing pads. However, he could possibly play outside.

That's good enough speed to lineup anywhere in the LB rotation. I'm a speed freak and 4.5-4.6 is fast for a LB. 4.4 for a linebacker just means you have freak at LB.

To clear up, he is saying that the Tampa 2 requires a fast MLB. I was the one saying a 4.6 is pretty fast but usually OLBs are faster than MLBs due to the fact that they cover the edges. From there volsgrad tried to school me on the formation. Running a Tampa 2 formation does not mean that you fit your players only to that formation. Typically, OLBs are quicker athletes and MLBs are the QB of the defense.

In cover 2 the MLB drops into middle zone, in Tampa 2 he just drops into a deeper middle zone...not to where it turns into a 3 deep zone though.

Rivals $

1/11

From the Clemson site....he recently took an official visit to Clemson and gives them high praise...says that he may take a return trip and bring his mother next time....says that he is going to visit Kentucky and then Tennessee...his final list in this order is Ole Miss, Clemson, Kentucky, and then Tennessee

My apologies. I saw his profile and assumed that when it listed 1/12 and had verbal beside it he either committed or reaffirmed his commit on that date.

Per Scout:

What did Tim respond back when Coach Nutt wanted assurance that he was going to sign with Ole Miss?

"He told Coach Nutt that he was going to play for Ole Miss next year."

Why was there reason for Coach Nutt to be concerned?

"Tim took a visit to Clemson the week before he visited Ole Miss. They are really trying to get Tim, as are Tennessee and Kentucky. Once Tim committed to Ole Miss, all three of those schools picked it up a lot. Tim really did not want to take anymore visits because he had given Ole Miss his commitment, but he wanted to make sure he was making the right decision, so he is going to take his visits.

Speaking of Clemson, the Tigers are down to four players they have a legitimate shot at signing – Boyd, running back Tim Simon of Cordova (Miss.) High, wide receiver Kendall Kelly of Gadsden (Ala.) Gadsden City and offensive lineman JerQuari Schofield of Aiken (S.C.) South Aiken. Simon, a soft commitment to Ole Miss, took an official visit to Clemson the weekend of Jan. 9 and has visits coming up to Kentucky and Tennessee. He visited Ole Miss this past weekend. Schofield, a soft commitment to Tennessee, also visited Clemson on Jan. 9 and has a visit with the Vols this weekend; he also will visit LSU on Jan. 23.
