Isn’t it time to name something in honor of Coach Pearl? We’ve got Neyland Stadium, The Summitt, Phil Fulmer Way, Peyton Manning Pass, and all that, but something seems to be missing. The glaring absence right now, especially in light of all that he’s achieved so far and the unprecedented enthusiasm for the UT men’s basketball program and where it’s headed is that there is no Bruce Pearl _______ (fill in the blank). No, Bruce Pearl, hasn’t yet brought home the national championship that we know he’s capable of, but we’ve got facilities named in honor of rich donors such as Pratt, Thompson, and Boling – people none of us would recognize if we ran into them in the street. Yet, there is no facility, no avenue, not even a rock to honor a coach who’s taken our program to unprecedented levels. Just doesn’t seem right to me.

I would say yes, because he has done A LOT of stuff for the program,.. but he has not won an SEC championship or NCAA championship. Don't get me wrong, Pearl is the best thing to happen to the men's program, but he has not done enough yet to have anything named for him............... YET THAT IS.

So you just contradicted yourself...

Is it yes or no.

I'd say it would be best to wait until after his career at Tennessee is over before determining if/how to honor him.

I say we should build a practice facility in honor a Pearl when he retires but I think we should let Bruce win a Final Four before we start a thread like this but this is a good post.

Agreed with Crazyguy. However, after another 7-8 years he is actually still here and is still improving the prestige of the program...then yes, honor him accordingly.

Peyton Manning did not win an NCAA championship either and he never will. Pearl still has the potential to do that for the Vols and he has won the SEC championship (2007-2008 season), but not the tourney. What championships have Mr. Pratt, Mr. Thompson, and Mr. Boling brought to the Vols?

Freak, I would only add to this, in that symbolically "we" honor him in every positive post we log. Even the factoid that there are those that post negatively symbolizes his acclaim to fame.....

Some of us may be dead by then. At least if his Vol career lasts as long as we'd like it to.

I think this board should be named after Pearl. Rename it Pearl is Excellence.

Then ban anyone who doesnt mention Pearl as the greatest coach in UT history in any sport.

If Pearl want to pony up a few million for facilities...

I think you should change your username to something like that.

I can see the Pearl-Pratt Pavilion here in about 5-7 years and a couple of big accomplishments later...

We'll only have him for 10-12 years total, IMO. He's smart enough to know coaches really don't last longer than that long years in today's college athletics game without things getting sour...

When they changed the seats inside TBA from orange to black they should have renamed it the Black Pearl! Just a suggestion.

Just do as Pearl asked and name the entrance to TBA the "Pearly Gates."
