Time to honor Pearl?

You could always introduce him in the starting line-ups while playing the ZZ-top tune "Pearl Necklace".

I'm sure there is some Irony to be found in that one....

I would say yes, because he has done A LOT of stuff for the program,.. but he has not won an SEC championship or NCAA championship. Don't get me wrong, Pearl is the best thing to happen to the men's program, but he has not done enough yet to have anything named for him............... YET THAT IS.

Oh?

He has won an SEC championship, just not a SEC tourney championship.

he hasn't. The SEC championship is earned in the sec tournament. The best sec regular season record just gets you a one seed.

I'm not positive but I think the regular season winner is considered the SEC champ. The winner of the tourney is considered the SEC tourney champ.

Isn’t it time to name something in honor of Coach Pearl? We’ve got Neyland Stadium, The Summitt, Phil Fulmer Way, Peyton Manning Pass, and all that, but something seems to be missing. The glaring absence right now, especially in light of all that he’s achieved so far and the unprecedented enthusiasm for the UT men’s basketball program and where it’s headed is that there is no Bruce Pearl _______ (fill in the blank). No, Bruce Pearl, hasn’t yet brought home the national championship that we know he’s capable of, but we’ve got facilities named in honor of rich donors such as Pratt, Thompson, and Boling – people none of us would recognize if we ran into them in the street. Yet, there is no facility, no avenue, not even a rock to honor a coach who’s taken our program to unprecedented levels. Just doesn’t seem right to me.

Not until he brings home that NC.
