TIME TO MOVE ON!!!

Why are you guys so quick to want to see Nico get eaten by Georgia? This is an emotional overaction. Milton was hardly the problem tonight. A running game, special teams, and the defense were the places you should be pointing your finger if anywhere.
They are ready for the next QB they can complain about is the answer!!

Benching a guy who stuck it out and was a good teammate for the last two games of his career likely wouldn’t be a great move for the locker room and may not be the signal you want to send to Nico and others. Milton will start the next two, Nico will likely play second half of Vandy, and maybe next week if UGA is up big
I disagree. Locker room wants to win. A good team mate got hurt and Hendon hooker came In and the rest is history. Milton got almost a whole season to play. We don’t have the defense Tee Martin had to win games without crazy QB play. Excellent QB is the most important thing.

Running the ball has been the success. It was when we won the natty. Plus defense. But when your defense sucks and you can’t run the ball it’s over. A great qb can account for a majority of faults. Look at how Hendon made WRs look so great. And he was amazing at scrambling.

Even with all that we couldn’t win vs Georgia. The defense does need to be looked at. Coaching wise.

Maybe. Won’t happen in any event

No! We can’t risk losing Nico in these last two meaningless games.
What if we lose him first or second snap in the opening game next year? I don’t think we should operate from a position of fear at this point, but from a position working on the future (2024 and 25). I’m not saying he should start or that JM3 should be flat out benched, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Nico for a series or two next week. We should’ve seen him today late in the 4th when the game was out of reach. He needs the reps. Maybe he can play some of the Vandy game. Heupel has made it clear he won’t get much, if any, playing time as long as he believes Milton is the best chance to get the most wins and get to a respectable bowl game.

He was hardly the solution either.

Absolutely not!! You ride with Milton the Last few regardless the Outcome then he's Gone. Nico will be ready next year and we won't have Milton for people to worry about!

Thank the good Lord Milton will be gone next season. Maybe some of his insufferable fanboys who defended his uninspired play and help split the fanbase, will leave out the door with him.
Yeah, I have defended him a lot but also have been honest about him not being “it”. I’m ready to move on, it not until after next week, at least for the first half. I just don’t see much upside to throwing Nico out to start against this machine.

If a team of 22 people HAS to have a Heisman level performance from 1 guy to have success, the coaches have failed to do their jobs with the other 21. Plain and simple.

The Vol's talent is on par with the rest of SEC middle pack, but a really good QB is the equalizer with the SEC big boys. He also makes the coach look competent and helps bring in more talent at the other positions ( See Cam Newton, Vince Young, Trevor Lawrence, Jameis Wilson, Joe Burrows, Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow for reference).

So let me get this straight. Due to us losing tonight, OP and some others on here want to take our true freshman, scrawny 18 year old kid, future of our program and put him up against one of the best teams we’ll face all year, risking both a potential upset AND, more importantly, a terrible injury.

Yea…good luck with that.
Can you say with any certainty that Nico wouldn’t come in and jumpstart this offense?

I think it’s time to move on from some less talented upperclassman and let some of the talented guys backing them up get some experience.
Not talking about QB’s either.

Can you say with any certainty that he would?

But that’s not my point. Why would we want to risk the future of our program for only two games left on the schedule that, in the grand scheme of things, don’t matter? We’re already bowl eligible. We’re not going to Atlanta and we’re not going to the playoffs. So why would we want to risk a potential devastating injury just because Milton isn’t Peyton Manning reincarnated? The logic makes zero sense.

While Milton didn’t lose the game for the Vols tonight, it’s time to move on from Milton and go ahead and get Nico some reps. Regardless if it’s Nico or Milton, the results are going to be the same the next 2 games. This post isn't meant to be bashing Milton, but it’s time to start preparing for next year and get Nico reps so the coaches can see if they need to hit the portal for a QB in the off season.

Milton has never been a player that you could rely on to make a play or take over when it was needed. Mizzou game planned to make sure to stop the run and make Milton beat them no matter what happened in the pass. They was determined we wasn’t going to beat them running the ball. Last year when something wasn’t working, you knew Hooker would make a play to be the difference in close games. Milton just doesn’t have the ability to take over a game or to make a game changing play when needed. The 3 games we have lost have been the games where we have struggled to run the ball.

I understand that we lost a lot from last years team, but it’s obvious the play calling isn’t even close to being the same. It takes longer to get the plays in, takes longer to get the players lined up, and the team is not as smooth with the play speed as they have been last 2 years. I feel like Milton has handicapped the play calling due to his abilities.

When he runs the ball he does great things, but for some reason he rather take a sack than pull it and run it when nothing is open. He takes too long to get rid of the ball and is indecisive with the ball when his 1st read isn’t open. For his size, speed and strength, you would think he would want to run the ball more. But he has been afraid to run the ball since day 1 when he ran out of bounds against Ole Miss with no time left on clock.

I am upset we lost this game, but I know the future is bright and Milton is going to the NFL. If Nico comes in and just lights it up last 2 games, you would think that would help with recruiting. So I feel like we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by starting Nico last 3 games of the season.
Not going to happen.

Roll with Joe at this point and preserve Nico’s redshirt. Nico can only play in 1 more game to preserve that. This season is not worth burning it just to play in a regular bowl game.
