Time to turn it over to Elzy

I have to agree with everything everybody is saying thus all my likes to your posts. The team is lost and it starts from the top. A big as MR is she has no idea of where she should be or what she should be doing. At 6'6 she is imposing. With Graves by her side plays should be designed for both of them. All the fouls are caused by poor defense and lack of help defense. Stanford last nite did not look good. The LVs have 2 number top HS AA in MR and DD and struggle. Why? How? A loss to Oregon will most likely drop Tenn out of the top 20. Whats it gonna take for Tenn to wake up. The fans are frustrated and rightly so. Last nites game was a shock to me. It was tuff to watch. The comments by that recruit about why she is not going to Tenn should open some eyes. Tenn needs leadership and it needs to start at the top. The coaches need to step up.

Except for a brief spark (too little, too late) in the 4th quarter, this team looked like it was going through the motions. Lots of half effort plays, dribbling the ball of their foot, not hustling on defense. In fact, there were plays were the LVs did not even try to guard. I have never seen that, not even under Holly's watch.

The sad reality is that Standford did not play that great or else the score could have been mega embarrassing.

It really looks like Holly has lost the team. I don't think there is any coming back from this nadir.

Realistically, it is time to go with an interim coach and hope that some new leadership can provide a little spark; then decisions can be made for longer term solutions.

I realize it is not likely to happen but if Hart had any concern for the program, he would make a move to stop the bleeding. Winter break is an optimal time to make a transition. And Kyra is the most logical, immediate option for an interim coach. I think she could be a good motivator which is something that really seems to be lacking. Hopefully, she could bring in a new assistant with some offensive chops.
I agree .There is something direly wrong in the locker room ....not just the coaching ....these players are simply not playing to win .It looks like they are rebelling on the court or have bets on the game and losing on purpose.....that may a bit over the top but ....maybe a change to Elzy would fix the problem enough to at least so the players would play with effort and purpose because there is ample talent for this team to be a Top 10 program and be able to overcome bad coaching.....the last two years prove that.

Tyler wouldn't leave his LT team in the lurch. But, day after his last game, Dave Hart better hire him back here! imho

Is Tyler the "best" coach we could get? Nothing against Tyler but I'm just saying we should go for the best coach out there, aside from UCONNs.

I had been on the give Holly a chance bandwagon. Part of that had to do with the last season. Despite not having a post player and losing the linchpin to the offense (Izzy), the team fought to have a very respectable season and was competitive even in their losses.

In hindsight, I am starting to wonder if the senior leadership of Cierra, Ariel, and the injured Izzy was the critical factor, rather than Holly.

Some of the bad karma that is becoming apparent is likely due to the players and some due to the coaching staff but the buck stops with the head coach. Whatever Holly is selling, it seems well past its motivational due date.

Over on the Summit when Caldwell was hired at LSU and was single and pregnant while coaching the Tigers, there were several Lady Vol fans saying that UT should hire her because, "She is a strong independent woman."

Caldwell may be an option after this season because she may lose her job at LSU.

The LSU program has fallen markedly under Caldwell.

Sue Gunter, Pokey Chatman, and Van Chancellor all had LSU competing at a high level.

No to Caldwell or Elzy or Tyler. There are PLENTY of smart, dynamic experienced individuals who are head coaches at good schools who would be far better.

Take a look at their pregame cheer routine before last night's game. Most of them are just going through the motions and look like they do not want to be there. I don't think elevating Elzy to interim head coach is going to solve anything. This team looks completely disillusioned. We need to clean house and bring in coaches who can recruit, motivate, coach up both guards and posts, and who know their X's and O's, and who can get the team to buy back into their plan.

I have a huge health problem that I'm facing in the very near future. Any of ya crazy bastages that have a spare prayer or two and would send them my way, I would appreciate.

The worst thing is knowing that procrastination on my part was the cause. Don't do like me and sit around hoping it ain't serious. If you think you may be ill or not right", get your ass to medical care and get it checked out and corrected. my $0.02

Prayers made for you,Gule. Hope everything goes better in your health. Looks like it's too late for our Ladies.

Going forward, absolutely true. But if we are speculating about interim options, the field of candidates is more constrained.

It is funny how things work at schools sometimes. Gail G. had great success at Duke but could not translate that to Texas. Nikki was building a promising program at UCLA but has not gotten traction at LSU. I would not rule her out as a candidate for the Lady vols. She was quite integral to their championship run as an assistant.

Andy Landers is available to the end of the season. He could not possibly be as bad as the staff we have now.

Good luck buddy. Sorry the team isn't doing more to lift your spirits...

Forget someone with UT ties. If Ivey would consider leaving ND, she would be the first person I would call.

I am not a coach and have only seen parts of a couple of games. But, IMHO, a head coach is only as good as the staff. From strength/conditioning, recruiting, post play, guard development, a person on staff should be working on these tasks daily. Again, I have seen very little of TN wbb, but I can see that Russell needs to be more engaged, develop post moves, and double her rebounding effort. There should be a coach working on these deficiencies. If no improvement, then the staff are accountable. Hence, a complete overhaul may be the answer. I don't know Holly, but if she is trying to do everything alone, then she will fail. Maybe Graves = 5 and Russell = 4. Just saying.

At this point, UT should look outside the Lady Volunteer family and maybe bring in an assistant from Baylor or South Carolina or Duke that can incorporate some fresh ideas.

I have watched all three losses this year, and I have to say this is the worst I've seen Lady Vol BB since the early 80's.
You would NEVER see lack of effort or motivation from Pat's teams; they always played with a sense of urgency. They didn't just expect to win, they expected to be 'perfect' and if that meant winning by 30+ points, then so be it.
Holly's X's and O's are non-existent; Post players look lost; team doesn't know the meaning of ball movement; defensive is what fueled Pat's success, but this team seems content to just let players drive to the basket or complete some easy entry passes into the paint. I have NEVER in 30+ years of watching LV BB seen such a sight. After the loss to OSU, Holly should come back to a big fat pink slip as her stocking stuffer - she doesn't even deserve a Christmas present...

Tyler has yet to prove himself at LaTech Fargas nee' Caldwell has run LSU into the ground... Elzy played with/along side greatness so as a former player she may be able to unite these girls... Kara Lawson would be a great choice... Lindsey Gothlieb from Cal would be another great choice, I say go for Niele Ivey or even Lisa Fortier from Gonzaga... I hope the Lady Vols can muster up something and finally play some good basketball

The players like the attention of being on the biggest stage of women basketball, but they don't know the effort and heart and dedication and determination and history and fight and will of Lady Vols basketball. They are just using us, Holly needs to start cleaning house...

I have never been embarassed by watching Lady Vols basketball til Stanford game.

Maybe, they are more concerned with being actors, all the videos and cameras and things instead of being a ball player, we have a team of reality basketball stars or wannabees and no basketball players, a team of soft mental midgets who play uninspired.

The effort last game, hurt me deeply, keep them out of the lockerrooms, no more videos, I mean really who want to watch or here for ladies who give no effort and losing game and playing as poorly as us right now, we don't want to hear anything from them until we start playing basketball, less talking more playing...

Diamond name is name is Cubic... , if she is too hurt to play defense she should not be on the floor. Nobody wants to play ball, none of our players look like they like playing basketball, no emotions, no energy, we look like zombies.

Geez.

The next coach at Tennessee needs to have had SUCCESSFUL HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE at his or her last job. No more assistant coaches (Elzy), no broadcasters (Lawson), and not average head coaches (Tyler).

Go for the brass ring like Muffet McGraw who we may not be able to get but would probably be tempted by the upgrade in talent she could get. If we can't get her, go for someone like Wes Moore who has been successfully coaching much less talented players for years.

And, FWIW, I don't consider Kim Mulkey or Tara Vanderveer to be sought after coaches either. Kim reminds me of Holly to a degree in that she underachieves with what she has - just one championship with 5 years with Griner and Sims and 3 years with BOTH of them.

They face the same rigors as every other student athlete, prolly not so much on the academics side, with a 100% graduation. If you play sports collegiately it comes with the territory, you hear it all year long, especially if you live in a college town, the good and the bad is apart of the game.

But if you are a mental giants, none of that matter cos you are able to put things in perspective, but our ladies are not playing up to their potential, we look soft, we look confused, and we look uninspired, that's not putting them down, that is what I have seen in person and on t.v.

I went to the Stanford game, I've been going to game for years, but seeing it live was WOW. I've never seen a lady vols team like that, well since....

So if you haven't seen it live, you prolly need to take a step back. We have the potential to be a great team, but as of right now, our team is not that good, we don't even look like a top 25 team, we don't even look like we like playing basketball, and playing with each other, no chemistry, even the huddles were garbage. No one took ownership, our ladies had their heads down, defeated during the game.

Its its everyone fault, Holly, players, assistant coaches, strength, its everyone, and its going to be curious to see, who takes ownership and accountability and start making the tough decision to fix it.

Oh, all is not lost, it just where i thought we'd be at this point is the season, isn't matching up, but I will not count out the lady vols or give up on them, but if I keep seeing games like the last one before, my interest will continue to wane, cos really who wants to see uninspired ball...

Nex coach... Holly! She has to grow. She has to get better. She is now being challenge. Her teams needs more accountability and ownership. She has to figure out a way to get them back, cos right now they have tuned her out. They give her what they want, rather than her getting them to give her what she wants.

How does she hold a team of mental midget accountable, without breaking most of their fragile personality?

Where are our alpha females?
