I don't want to call out our coaching staff, but when LSU is fixxing to score under a min. and we have 3 timeouts, why not use them? Instead of having 10 seconds to work with, we could have had 30 seconds or so and the timeouts would have given our D some time to breath. Instead we walk away with 2 timeouts left in our back pocket.

I agree, exact thing I was thinking. You could just tell LSU was going to get into the end zone after making the conversion. Use your TO and give your offense some time.

Was anyone else upset they didn't try a hail mary on the last 2 plays? I just don't understand at that point, sure it's a loooong shot but might as well.

Yup. It was obvious that LSU have the momentium on their side after that 4th down play they had.

That last play with 1 second left was in large part of having a back up QB in there that's hardly played. It was a designed hail marry, but he said room to run and did. But I don't understand Josh McNeil jumping on the fumble instead of picking it up or something...you gotta know how much time is on the clock

I was thinking the same thing. Do they think they can cash in leftover timeouts at the end of the game for points? I thought that was ridiculous.

Our offense wasn't exactly stellar. Not bad but not great. Our best chance was to try to run the clock out, because we weren't moving that great.

Not likely to run the clock out when it's first and goal with over a minute remaining. That was not smart.

Still, we were a sack or a short gain inbounds from a moving clock forcing Arkansas to use their final timeout which might have probably changed some things.

Watching one game and posting about another is tricky business.:p

I completely disagree with your statement

Yes our D wasn't great, but did see how much they were out there? Our offense didn't say on the feild long enough to let our D get a break. Best chance to let the clock run out? How? That makes no sense at all. Even if you take the timeouts, and LSU doesn't score, you just take a knee and LSU has no timeouts left.

I would rather our defense try to make a stop with a minute left, then try to have an offense make a miracle drive in a minute.

Either way, LSU was going to get at least a field goal. Had that happened, it would have been nice to have the option of trying to score again, or just taking a knee for overtime.

I think we were better off hoping for an end like the first half of last years game than going all the way. Maybe they would make a mistake.

We could have taken a knee had the game been tied on our last possession.

Yeah, but they can still make a stop if we take our timeouts. If they do, great! We'll take a knee and get out with a win. They go for a FG. That's fine, we're tied and can maybe get a good kickoff. If they get a TD, ah okay, but we still have 30-40 seconds to do something.

It was obvious that LSU was rolling once they got the 4th down and our guys were wore out from being on the feild all night long. So you gotta take the timeouts and give your team a chance. Atleast the timeouts would have given our D a break. But no, we walk away with a loss and 2 timeouts left....just poor coaching there if you ask me

I meant like a mistake like last year where they didn't get the field goal off in time at the end of the first half.

If you base your gameplan on the other team making a mistake, you are a loser. Winners try to win games, they don't hope the other team blows it.

How much of a drive are you going to get with 50 seconds left and no timeouts.

Our offensive touchdowns came on bombs to Meachem, but this time LSU would have had everyone back.

How many seconds did UGA need to beat us with a freshman QB back in 2001? I believe it was... less than 50 seconds.

It's college football my friend. Anything can happen. If you throw 10 yard out routes, get out of bounds/spike the ball/clock stop on 1st down, we could have had a much much better chance than 10seconds with 3 timeouts

So you are going to use a game that happened in 2001 to assume we had a real chance. Our offense really couldn't get anything going.

Maybe anything could happen, but I think their defense was just too good for anything like that.

Whereas, our special teams are so incredible it was likely that they would miss a field goal from inside the ten yard line. That makes sense.
