Timmy (the Tool) Tebow

I would add that part of it has to do with what seems to be the increasing focus of the college players purely on money, the NFL, and marketing. Over the years, it has seemed to me that the players have become more and more selfish. With the money being thrown at them if they get drafted, I can't say as I blame them.

Say what you will about too much media attention on Tebow, or his being sickeningly nice, but there's no denying that a big part of what makes him fun to watch is that it seems like he genuinely enjoys the game and the competition. Those of us in the stands or watching on tv, we can relate to that a whole lot more than we can draft position.

I can't stand the guy and I think he only does all that "good stuff" because he craves attention and wants to make himself look like hes better than everyone else.

Like many on here it's not difficult for me to begrudge the success of an enemy. Having said that it's probably a bit unfair to say that a guy raised literally from birth by Christian missionaries to be faking all his "good stuff".

I won't accuse him of faking his "good stuff" but it is annoying. It makes him seem like a goody goody pansy.

I remember both of those guys. HW was something else -- I was at the Florida-UGA game when we went in #1 and got run over him for 34 points or something like that.

Bo Jackson I just didn't like how he faded on Auburn late in his carrer with some odd injuries.

Both of those guys were tremendous athletes, and depending on your criteria might have been better athletes than Tebow.

But neither was as much of a motivator and pure competitor for his team as Tebow has been for Florida. That's where I give Tebow true credit.

I've got no problem giving Tebow credit for those qualities if it helps his team win. He's an extremely charismatic leader, and it sure appears as though that's a big factor in his team's success. It's hard to argue with the stats or what his team's accomplished.

But still -- if we're talking about where he ranks among the all-time great college football players, then IMO (and I really do not intend this as sour grapes at all) there's still some doubt about whether the lion's share of that success ought to be chalked up to Tebow's singular talents as a quarterback, or whether it's more a function of Urban Meyer's brilliant offense. (I'm sure the correct answer for a Gator here is "both," but that's a cop-out.) Part of that is inherent to the position -- it's a lot easier to separate a RB's level of godliness from his offense than it is a QB's -- and part of that is just because Tebow's an out-of-the-box QB running an out-of-the-box system. It's harder to evaluate a player like him because he doesn't fit into any of the usual categories.

I guess what I'm saying is that I won't know how great I think Tebow really is until I see what happens with UF's offense after he's gone. If there's a big dropoff or they have to radically revamp it, then that'll be an indication that Tebow really was a unique, irreplaceable talent. If they just keep on trucking along as is, then it'll look more like Tebow was a good player whom Meyer's system elevated to greatness. Truly great, all-time players are not easily replaceable.

Exactly. Tebow just seems like a "woman's" football player. No offense to any women out there. I could see a bunch of guys going out with Peyton Manning and having some beers, but Tebow seems like he'd rather hold hands, sing kum-by-ya, and drink virgin strawberry daiquiris all night long.

I like and respect Tebow as a human being and Christian. I despise the Gators so I could NEVER root for him to have success on the football field.

I actually went out with him on one date. Guess what he had.......... A virgin strawberry daiquiri. Hahahahaha that's hilarious. By the way, he's totally full of himself.

Does that explain the single motherhood or was it immaculate conception?

That's awesome. He's such a tool. I would probably be full of myself if I had the entire company of ESPN trying to worship the ground I walk on, but I'm not and he is. Therefore he sucks, haha.

:toast: Cheers to being from Maryville.

Its unforunate we have to watch him run up the middle for four yard gains again this season. The problem is nobody's been able to stop it and won't again this year. Timmy... just like the rest of that gimmicky offense is just a fad. It doesn't prepare kids for the league. Its a college system and it works for college thats it. So if kids want a college title then urban's system is for them, if they want to get paid, pro-style is the way to go. Once timmy is gone from turdville and the hype dies down, they'll suffer and i can hardly wait. Besides... after urban's meal ticket (tebow) is gone he's liable to jump ship anyway. It would be a shame though, we owe his crying butt a few beatdowns.

Nothing wishful about it. Thats the reality you'll wake up to after next season, enjoy.:wavey:

So Urbie wins a title with Leak running a system where he's a fish outta water in...but yet when tebow leaves the Gators will fall into mediocrity...just cant see it.

Its bound to happen, nobody stays on top forever. Florida's having their time right now. Enjoy it, its about over... thank god. They'll still be good, but if you think urban has another tebow waiting in the wings you're going to be disappointed. He's unique, a freak of nature, better savor every minute of it next year. You and the gators are going to miss him dearly. Those don't come around very often, no matter how well you recruit.

Oh, tebow had a lot to do with them winning that title as well. He played a key role at times, don't play off his importance to the program. Without tebow or harvin in the championship game last year the gators lose.
