I'm doing a write up for my website on how to survive a coaching hire and was curious as to what you all would say are "maxims" to surviving a coaching hire. I almost feel like a veteran having been through a couple of these recently.

Things like:

1. Just because a coach is “entertaining” an offer doesn’t mean he is truly interested.

2. Just because a coach publicly says they aren't listening to offers doesn't necessarily mean they aren't through third parties.

3. Most of the time the media genuinely doesn’t know anything.

4. More rumors than you would think originate from the AD’s office.

5. The sexy name isn’t always the best hire.

What would you add?

8. Everyone becomes an expert on what type of coach is needed.

9. Everyone all of sudden has an inside source or knows someone that does.

I don't get on here as much as I used to. I used to be really active on here while I was in school. I don't remember the "like" thing always being around.

If everyone is tired of the Rumors, don't read the site!

I'm not tired of the rumors. I think they are fun and entertaining. What I'm compiling is meant to be fun/funny not an indictment of the rumor mill.

I'm looking for things that are funny because they're true if that makes sense.

11. A list of coaching canidates that you analyze everyday to the point that you develop some kind of OCD. Then you can give your OCD a name like anti-negavolphobia. Then become famous for the creation of a new word to insert into volnation threads when needed.

Here's another example... Seemingly half of the fan base if going to withdraw their "significant contributions" if a certain candidate isn’t hired.

12. Remember that the unofficial role of the athletic director or a top aide to the AD is that of Minister of Disinformation.
