Titans Owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning

@ClayTravisBGID: Bud Adams on Nashville's WSMV regarding Manning: "Things are moving along very well, I'd say."

I may be the only one with this feeling...but does anyone get the sense that, after all this hoopla with the media and fans, there's no way he can say no? He has the state behind him, the mayor, the governor. What else can you possibly want?

Just sitting here thinking about it, I don't see him signing anywhere but here. It wouldn't end right.

They know the hype they have stirred with the fans, too. If they don't, it will negatively affect them a little and the titans fanbase is pretty fragile right now. I know a lot of people, including myself, that don't have season tix anymore and seldom go to games. It takes the whole Sunday to go, and it hasn't been worth it.

I hope this is true. Like I've said in another thread, I've been on this board so long I'm jaded. It just seems too good to be true.

But Colin Cowherd said Denver, so that makes me think he may be in a Titan's uniform soon.

Adams is playing a smart hand, imo.

I'm sure PM liked the pitch on staying with the organization after his playing days are done.

That's the kind of thank you the Colts owed him. Moreover, he may be the best offensive mind in the game, so it's not exactly a sacrafice.

I have no source other than my wife text me with..."Reports out of Nashville are saying PM will be a Titan within the next 24 hrs."

Don't shoot the messenger. I did preface.

The Titans play some tough defenses this season. If they sign Manning, they better get the O-line up to snuff or Peyton will end his career at LP Field on a sad note.

They allowed the 2nd fewest sacks in the NFL last season.

Pretty hard to beat that.

They're gonna try though with Steve Hutchinson and Scott Wells/Chris Meyers.

OL can pass protect as well as any line in the NFL. Upgrading the interior to bolster the run game. The OL is the least of their worries, IMO.

Roos and Stewart are workhorses on the outside, if the Titans get improvement in the middle then Peyton would have about the best line he could ask for out of a team that hasn't been in the Super Bowl the last couple of years.

Not to mention they threw a lot, and Hasselbeck doesn't have the ability Manning does to avoid the sack (pre-snap assignments and quickness from snap to throw).

We probably had the best pass blocking line in the last four or five years. If we can protect Kerry Collins and Hasselbeck, we sure as hell can protect Manning.

If Peyton is indeed a Titan, what number will he wear? Let's take votes people.

I say he wears 16. Originally, I said 18 , but I had a brain fart.

I say he wears 18.

But my hope is he wears 16.

they'll probably pay Kenny Britt to change numbers / give up the number

same way they do with first round draft picks (ex/ a punter was wearing 10 when Eli was drafted).

This happens all the time in the NFL.
