Title now or sustained success for a decade

Would you rather have the 89-99 (minus 98) or just 98?

I didn't take it that way. I took it to mean sustained success with the possibility of more championships, but they're not guaranteed vs. guaranteeing one this year at the cost of future sustained success. I'd rather have the sustained success because we'd likely have more than one championship over the next decade. It would be a gamble, but if the deal is keeping Heupel, I don't think the risk is that high...he'll win more championships.

Fortunately, we don't have to choose. We can win it this year and start a dynasty.

Just like Barnes has done in the basketball program at UT, he has a winning record against the king of basketball, Kentucky and this past season won the SEC tournament for the first time in over 40 years, Heupel has started laying the ground work for a championship team this year. Beaten 4 ranked teams, We conquered the big giant for the first time in 16 years, Alabama. Came out on top in the first CFP rankings. Now the next task, beat the current NC, Georgia. If that gets accomplished, take care of business the rest of the year this will definitely be something special.

Might not matter. With the Vols back, recruits will flood the program, quality coaches will want to be here. Hopefully, the insane, self-destructive Vol-fans desiring we re-Kiffin don't get their wish. Cause if they do, the sumbich will screw us again and laugh at how stupid we are to let him do it.

If you are consistently winning 9 to 11 regular season games a year, you will be making a lot of the expanded playoffs. So there is a good chance you will a championship or two in year 2 through 10.
