Otey was probably not a top target for the new staff at first, but I think both parties now are more open to one another now. Hes planning to camp at Tennessee next month, which I think is important for him, and if he has a good showing there, he could end up being a legitimate option for the Vols. Theres definitely been a bit more mutual interest between them recently. But theyre still battling for other CBs, too, so I think they want to see him in camp for sure.
Another update on a Tennessee-based prospect considering the Vols as Adonis Otey tells me he will will be on campus next month. Otey said he's been in regular contact with the Vols coaches and is looking to get back to Rocky Top to spend more time with Terry Fair and the defensive staff.
Rivals"I want to go up there and take a visit and talk with the new defensive backs coach Terry Fair and also spend some time with the other defensive coaches like Coach Kelly, Coach Pruitt and Coach Coach Fair, Coach Kelly, Coach Pruitt and Coach Sherrer. I was just there for a visit and got to spend some time with Coach Pruitt but I really want to spend some time with the other coaches. It's been nice since they go there, they have been keeping up with me and coming by my school to check in during spring as well."
Looking forward to seeing: "I dont really have to see much. Ive seen everything. I just want to talk to Coach Fair and them because they werent there the last time I came to campus. Coach Fair seems cool and laid back. He seems like a coach coach to be around. I want to talk to him about how they would use me and how I would fit and everything."
VQOthers set to camp with UTs staff at the end of the month are several in-state prospects. Lance Wilhoite, Adonis Oteyand Woodi Washington are all at Ohio State this weekend. Washington is still noncommittal on whether he will camp for Pruitt later this month. He goes back and forth but has indicated to some this past week that he will indeed come up. Trey Knox, Zion Logue, who picked up a UGA offer at camp this week, and Gyasi Mattison all plan to camp later this month. Mattison continues to see his name gain more traction with a very solid spring.
