'25 TN RB Daune Morris (USC commit)

I don’t think so. Maybe you could have articulated it better then.

Who do you perceive right now as the 6th best DB we have committed?
Not sure how it can be articulated any clearer than this...
No, I'm saying 7th in terms of talent at the end of the day once the class is assembled.

And just based on offer lists, I'd say Sidney Walton, but that is purely a guess based on context clues. Someone with experience closely evaluating DBs, their hip fluidity, movement, reaction timing, intuition, etc., may disagree.

That wasn’t you original statement though, this was -

I guess. That depends of the faith you have that the 7th DB you bring in is going to stick around and actually make an impact when his time comes.
Which seems to point to order - “the 7th you bring in”.
Doesn’t matter though.

And if we were to flip some Top100 Safety, and Sidney Walton dropped from #6 to #7, based on your cursory rankings - would that render him less capable of impact?

Ok, but then I clarified it. Just because the first iteration wasn't so plainly stated, the follow-up was clear as day. The evidence of my intent was there, and you even responded to it directly by continuing to belabor the point with your misunderstanding.

And yes, if we flip another top-100 safety, then in theory, IMO, it would render Walton less capable of making an impact because he's #7 in the pecking order of his own class. Again, the issue isn't with taking a better DB, it's with taking a 7th DB. If Walton is 7th in terms of talent and potential impact following another unforeseen commitment, then I think the staff should encourage Walton (or whomever they have the least confidence in) to look elsewhere, and use the scholarship elsewhere.

Cody Schrader lit up the SEC last year and went undrafted. Wright was the first SEC RB drafted, and that wasn't until the 4th round.
Very good point. The caveat with Schrader is that part of the reason his stats were so good is the fact that Mizzou didn’t rotate him much. If J Dub had that many touches he would’ve led the league in rushing by a mile. Schrader was on the older side too if I’m not mistaken.

So, again, you could have articulated better on the front end and saved all this back and forth. Glad we got that cleared up.

We won’t know if Walton is 7th in the pecking order until he takes the field with the others. And even if he’s only 7th in your ranking, he still may be better than some already here.

Duane Morris got hurt on the 1st play of the game vs Independence and didn’t return. Left the night on crutches.

I read that they are doing an x-ray, so if it came back negative, they might follow up the x-ray with an MRI. May just be a very bad sprain. I bet we’ll know early this week.
Man I hope it’s not a severe high ankle sprain. That’s worse than breaking you’re ankle. Had someone step on my foot while I was going up for a layup and heard an audible ‘pop’. Thought I broke my ankle but nope “just a severe high ankle sprain”.

I didn’t have surgery or anything but probably should have. Took me almost a year to get back to almost “normal”. This happened 10 years ago when I was 24. My left ankle is still noticeably bigger than my right one to this day.

Yep. Can be not a big deal or completely torn away from the bone. Hopefully it’s just a little sprain.

Hate the injury, but maybe it will be easier to get him here for a visit during his downtime.

Really would like to see a sequenced war room wall so I could more intelligently make my old fart Vol wish lists. Always figured there are NO-BRAINERS and some need to continue to dance lists that can change as injuries and exhibited ability ceilings on the field alter priorities as the numbers and NOW NIL dollars change.

Found this article published on Saturday. Looks like they are estimating that he will be out for 5 to 6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. But we know how high ankle sprains go. They tend to drag out. This could mean the season…and for the sake of his college career, I kinda hope they shut him down.

We REALLY need to get him on campus for the Florida or Alabama game.

Really sucks for him but I’m like you I would think about shutting it down for the year. He just has too much opportunity at the next level.

Just not seeing the interest from him in Tennessee and that's OK, you do you but I don't believe he will be in this class. Good luck wherever he winds up(unless he plays Tennessee), if he's not interested with the product we are putting on the field now he never will be.
You’d think having his cousin on the team and playing as a freshman would help.
