I'm usually a fan of what On3 does rankings wise but man oh man their 2026 TN state rankings were ROUGH. It's not even all that deep of an in-state class and they had Craig Tutt at 25. I don't want to disrespect the players ahead of them so I'll just say simply put Tutt is at WORST top ten in the state. Probably top five imo
True. But On3 isn't the only service that rates Wyatt highly. Rivals is the only outlier and even they have him as a 4*.

He seems to be more explosive this year. I wasn't trying to slander him at all. If he's explosive with that frame and athleticism, he's what people want Cam Sparks to be, so it makes sense

Wonder if Tennessee is ramping up this recruitment some. Seems odd to have a guy ranked #2 in the state and a top 50 player by at least one service, but UT is (seemingly) slow playing him.

I admittedly haven’t watched him play and I trust our coaches’ evaluation more than recruiting services. This time last year, Cam Sparks was considered an elite prospect by the analysts but not the UT staff. We see how that turned out.

That said, I’m hoping this staff ends up liking him because he seems to like UT a lot.
This kid is more James Pearce than Donte Thornton.

He’s big and sudden coming off that edge.

He’ll be 215 lbs as a SR and wreaking havoc in Tennessee

In-state standout Joel Wyatt is set to return to campus this weekend for the third time in as many games. The Vols have done a nice job with the versatile prospect, and it is clear he thinks highly of Tennessee. Wyatt will certainly look at some other programs along the way, but we believe Tennessee could be hard to beat if things continue to progress as they have.
Figuring out a position for Wyatt at the next level will be interesting for college coaches, as he has heard about potentially playing receiver, defensive back, and even standing up as an outside linebacker. He is open to whatever position a school wants him to play, though, and we believe the Vols have done a nice job of cultivating strong relationships on each side of the football in this recruitment.

Great news on all fronts. Love that this kid is open to any position. That will keep him from becoming another Cam Sparks.
Kids with that kind of foresight give themselves a chance in life.

Because no matter if you forces Cam Sparks to play another position, he would suck because he doesn’t want to play it.

This Wyatt kid is long and plays with power even though he’s lean. He’s an EDGE imo, and a very good one for whoever gets him. His skill at WR will only help his athletic aesthetic.

“Tennessee is on top of my list and I am feeling good about them,”

“I was there for the Kentucky game and it was amazing. They are pushing very hard for me and they are making me feel great.

“When I was there for the Kentucky game, some of the highlights were being on the field, going into the locker room after the game and talking with the coaches.”

The position point you make is what spins my brain. I appreciate this young man has a preferred position, That said some millionaire coaches think a different position suits his skill set better, he should listen. Our priority is fielding a winning team, but I truly believe Coach H cares about the kids future and development most.
