I agree on McCullough. Too slow. Needs to play LBIt may just be a matter of seeing who fits where, not to mention there will be plenty of defensive snaps to be had. Our secondary, especially our safeties, need more speed. The playing time is there. Truthfully, we could probably use another one or two DBs. Maybe another CB and another Safety. Burrell was beaten a lot last year, and I like Tank, but he's a bit slow. He'd be better, IMO, bulking up and moving to ILB.
I hope HB lights it up at UNLV. So all his haters look like idiots!Tyler Baron's stepbrother. Dad is pretty excited. He left UT after this season and doesn't plan on coaching anymore at least team wise. Working camps and such. He facetimed Tyler at a camp I was covering today and Baron didn't even know Walker finally announced his commitment lol. Was kinda cool to be next to him doing that. Hooker was hanging out with Baron. Crouch in Knoxville hanging out with Banks over Crouch's spring break and was surprised that the people here still cared a ton for him. HB doing well out there for UNLV

The hope is Turnage can grab a CB spot but regardless we need depth and options. I think slaughter will be tough to beat out at star
I haven’t given up on Warren for the Simple fact that he has length and experience… I’ve never seen a player in position as much as 4 and make so few plays it’s crazy but he is usually in the right spot just rarely makes a play on the ball… If those 3 and Warren are our top 4 corners I think we will be pretty good at corner… I like flowers I think christian Charles, McDonald, and slaughter should all get more PT this year they are much more athletic than flowers Theo n JM… hoping Theo film study rubbed off on the younger guys… I think our secondary n DL will be solid im most worried about the LB spot.Hadden/Turnage/Des Williams is a really talented Top 3 CB rotation. I'm in the no-more-#4 camp, fwiw.
I wonder if Slaughter can vie for a S spot? He's got much better speed than the current incumbents, but obviously no experience back there.

I hear you on Burrell, but I'm not sure that doesn't come down to "you have instincts or you don't," and so far he's shown zero.
Agree on the young guys though, all have promise. I also think that Thomas and Harrison could fight their way into some PT - I'm high on both.
My take on LB is that a) Banks should be even better, b) Beasley can probably get a little better too, c) Willis and Mohan have talent and now a full year in the system/watching, d) Perry and Herring are talents who are both going through Spring, (perhaps most importantly) e) Mitchell will be back, and f) we should add another player from the portal.
Mitchell was a starter before getting injured/whatever happened and came from a major program where he was incredibly productive. He played just so-so in the very few snaps he got at the beginning of the season after not having been at spring practice but I'm willing to write that off. Getting him back is effectively like getting a portal addition given that he barely played, so between that and the above, and (HOPEFULLY) a guy like McCaskill from ULL we should be much deeper and much more talented across the board at LB. That is to say, I expect to see very, very little of 38 and hopefully not much of 24 either.
Yeah I’m a huge fan of banks if you see my posts he plays with that dog in em you can’t coach… but yeah the culture this staff is building will develop players I kinda like 24 but hope Mitchell is completely healthy and 24 is the backup I agree with you on 38 … either way I feel we will be a better defense in year 2 of a system compared to last year especially with RG at DL coach and some DL with good potential.I hear you on Burrell, but I'm not sure that doesn't come down to "you have instincts or you don't," and so far he's shown zero.

Past two seasons:
Walker: 92 tackles /2.0 TFL /6 PD/ 0 INT / 0 S / 2 FF
Flowers: 144 tackles/ 3.5 TFL / 6 PD/ 2 INT/ 1 S / 1 FF
McCollough: 92 tackles / 6 TFL / 7 PD / 1 INT / 1 S / 1 FF
So basically, Flower and McCollough have both had superior production, against better competition. Doesn't mean we can't still use Walker of course.
Supposedly Mitchell was playing with a shoulder injury the entire time he played and then shut it down. I’m sure that affected himI hear you on Burrell, but I'm not sure that doesn't come down to "you have instincts or you don't," and so far he's shown zero.
