'24 TN DB Boo Carter (Tennessee)

If this kid does end up a db and has a good college career he most definitely can be a first round pick....Cornerback will often be asked to cover the team's best receiver. So they need to have good footwork, speed, and quickness.

I mean cornerbacks win a lot of their battles at the line of scrimmage before either one of them has the ball in his hands. This kid has some of the most insane feet n the class,he can stop and start on a dime and has a good ability on offense but man he's doing himself a disservice if he doesn't play Db he could be filthy.Really though Martinez is the wild card our group really needs to hold there own down the stretch.

Wish we would recruit him on offense. Size would be less of an issue as a plus. Can play RB and slot at a very high level. Also can play FS at a high level but might be short for FS and would probably move to the STAR, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing but he could be used so much more on offense and I would want the ball in his hands imho
If he is as good as it appears I want him on defense. We score on most possessions but we need help on defense.

He's a lock-down CB imo. And an astounding one. But don't feel slighted: as a DB he will end up with the ball in his hands a lot! And he will be a threat to score every time.

He might be one of those special players whose primary position is CB, but can also be a dynamic returner and someone who can play some on offense in special packages.

Yep, CBs have to be the fastest players on the field. They have to react to the WRs which makes them half a step behind before factoring speed
Quickest and fastest, fluid hips, acceleration, attitude. "Please put me on island against your most dangerous weapon because all I do is shut guys like that down and chew bubble gum; and I'm all out of gum." "All the passes are belong to me."

Eric Berry did just fine for us and I believe he could have played either side of the ball. He was also just 6’tall. I honestly think the height thing is over rated. You just need an aggressive ball player that wants and looks for the ball and goes and gets it. And also wants to hit someone. That’s the thing I haven’t seen or heard about Boo yet. Does he like contact? That would be what I would be looking for if I was a coach if we were to land him. If he doesn’t like to tackle or avoids contact put him on offense. Boy is definitely talented!

My take on height in MOST athletic evaluations needs to take a lesson from horse racing where they measure height to the withers, not the top of the head. Not all necks are created equal. More importantly for some positions might be wingspan which also factors in to standing reach up to where the passed ball arrives for DBs on all those plays where neither player elevates while in stride. Easier to back them up to the measuring stick I guess. Vertical leap or lift is a factor as well. All part of the athleticism that factors into ability to EXCEL at different positions. Speed is what it is, but so is twitch that translates into reaction time, which I THINK (without any scientific support) is way more important on the defensive side of the ball, especially in the secondary. I think this player can excel on either side of the ball and simply hope when all is said and done he decides to make Neyland his home field.
