I’m betting no one goes back and checks once one of the two primary prospects you're still recruiting says he's gonna visit, says he hasn't signed, and says he wants to continue working on relationships with coaches. There is a 72 hour window to sign during ESP. Those folks have one job. I find that especially hard to believe it can be added “late” and no one knew.
It’s been in the database for at least 3 weeks. UT might have checked the last day of the ESP and Auburn might have delayed uploading it but it had been there for some time.
Lots of blame to go around and most of it falls on Hardy and Auburn. UT AD and Compliance did a poor job of supporting the coaching staff and wasted 3 coaches’ time coming out of a dead period. Hopefully it’s a lesson learned.
This.... and he absolutely misled everyone at other schools and recruiting services who wasted valuable time on him. But the worst part is he made public comments about Tennessee coaches not doing their job of recruiting him after all the time and money they spent on him with his many trips to Knoxville. That's malicious. From the National Letter of Intent Rules,
“I shall notify any coach who contacts me that I have signed an NLI.“
Yes there is a way to find out when it was updated. There is a log when changes are made.Yes but that was a recent screen shot. No way to know when it was updated to show when it was added. I find it very hard to believe TN, Alabama, another school that I can't recall, all the recruiting services all missed it. Remember, TN wasn't the only school that was in contact over the last few days. I suspect Auburn just reported to the NCAA that he signed.
Should warrant a NCAA investigation.This.... and he absolutely misled everyone at other schools and recruiting services who wasted valuable time on him. But the worst part is he made public comments about Tennessee coaches not doing their job of recruiting him after all the time and money they spent on him with his many trips to Knoxville. That's malicious.
AND it is more than the fact that he signed...he was ENCOURAGING the coaches to contact him in his interviews. He said he was wanting to visit and get more involved with the coaches and current players. It was completely trying to entrap UT. There is no defense of what he was doing or trying to do. If this kid is an engineering prospect he isn't that dumb. Auburn knew what they were doing and the fact that they didn't add him until yesterday to their "welcome" from early signing day shows they were involved in the deception. I'm not even mentioning the parents. They were completely involved. I am all for kids going where they feel is best for them. UT shouldn't have to look every single day between early signing day and the regular signing to see if a LOI shows up. The kid should be embarrassed but he won't be. The NCAA needs to make it so you have to go ahead and announce if you sign. If you don't want to announce, then wait til February.
Wish I knew what happened when Omari Thomas visited and rejected them.I think I understand what happened here. This kid and his family were feeling disrespected by what our guys were "offering"..Awbarn saw an opportunity and went all in on the $ end..while playing up that UT had disrespected, took them for granted, and took advantage of them by "offering" so much less...hence the malicious trolling of our guys.
Not this time. Hardy was still denying he signed it even while Price broke the story. Why would our “idiot” coaches second guess the LOI page without his name on it? All while being invited into his home for a visit. Price was tipped off by the Auburn media, not the player (family), Auburn, is the NCAA.Yet..you don't find it especially hard to believe that our staff are incompentent idiots...interesting.
