'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

He has visited the Vols at least eight times this year and has been to three of their home games this season.

“(I am) still building relationships with the in-state recruits, some of the commits,” said Hardy, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 97 overall prospect and No. 3 strongside defensive end in the 2020 class and the No. 2 senior from the state of Tennessee. “And that’s what I’m really doing with all the other schools, as well — trying to connect with all the commitments.”

Hardy grew up attending games at Tennessee during his brother’s recruitment and playing career with the Vols, and he admitted his family connection to the program — along with the fact that he grew up liking Tennessee — has been “just in the back of my head” throughout his recruitment.

“I’m probably going to sign in February, because my parents still want me to take a couple more officials,” he said. “My parents, they’re probably going to tell me to think about it. I’ll probably just listen to them and try to make this decision a little bit easier.”

Good thing these guys do not play for UT. Our student section was half full at best at kickoff. Auburn may have had 87,000 fans in the stands but UT may have had 70,000. May be time to downsize Neyland after all.

I think UT hosting UAB is a bit different than Auburn hosting Ole Miss from a fan’s perspective. I’ve been to UTC, MSU, and USCe this season and I’m pretty sure the Vol fans had a better showing in each of the games (although UTC would be close) than what has been described by the Auburn fans for the Ole Miss game. The UTC environment was what you would expect for a 0-2 Vols team hosting a lower level team at noon. The MSU environment had its moments despite being a noon game. The USCe game was a very good environment. I’m guessing that the Vol fans will be there in droves and acting maniacal when we have a top 10/15 team on our hands and won’t be leaving early in a SEC division game with the outcome in doubt.

If Vandy is for a bowl and UT doesn’t embarrass themselves the week before it’ll be packed that game. Plus it’s Jauans senior night.. now that I think about it, better be a sellout based on that fact alone.

Don't understand why a "fan" would take time posting slanted comparisons to make UT look worse and give Auburn a excuse.
It is not slanted. I have sat in Neyland packed houses during years of 4-7, 6-5, and lots more of mediocre seasons. We packed Neyland during the late 70’s and early 80’s.
That crowd last night was not near 85,000 and many people were walking out halfway during the third quarter. You need to dispute my facts and not my fandom if you are seeking any kind of credibility.

If you had really been there all these years..... you would know that a good chuck of the crowd always walks out during the 3rd quarter of the homecoming game bc they are there strictly there for homecoming festivities. I have no idea how many was there but who cares.... it was a conf USA team on a freezing night.

Why would you compare the 70's and 80's to 2019? What channel were those games on in the late 70's and early 80's? Strange, strange way to prop up your argument.

Dude it was UAB you’re supposed to be able to walk out halfway though the 3rd without a care in the world and only thought being what you’re drinking after the game to celebrate

I was actually laughing last night half way through the 4th quarter when Jeff Jernigan was yelling ITS THIRD DOWN and I thought who cares there is hardly anybody here. Probably around 20,000, if that?
