'20 TN DE/LB Tyler Baron (UT SIGNEE)

Actually it is my Mother and my Father in law..sorry for the confusion, I wrote that out weird. I appreciate the prayers...mom is about to start Cap-Tem tomorrow to try and slow it down some, but chemo and immunotherapy did not work. We have not got the MRI reports back to know if the radiation stopped the spread in her brain. My FiL is running on 15% in his heart and kidneys..my wife is obviously freaking out.
😘

Rybka has been pushing hard for UK. Some Tennessee kids who don't go to UT negative recruit UT in a big way. It still surprises me me how anti-UT some of them are. And UK is very, very anti-UT in recruiting.

Im not surprised that TN kids are anti TN anymore. The Vols have sucked for the most part as long as they can remember. They see TN the way kids saw Vandy 20 yrs ( still do).

Don’t you just appreciate Trey Smith, Jauan Jennings, etc.... even more?

I was even thinking of Derek Barnett tonight. The kid made his entry, and made his mark in Tennessee history.
Never whined and never complained. A joy to watch. Tennessee native. Tennessee pride. What has happened to the rest of our instate kids.

Absolutely loved watching Derek Barnett! Favorite player from the Jones’ teams.

You’re wayyyy too hung up on this. It’s like an obsession for you.

Funny I'm addressing those that are obsessed with where kids live before college. If that's not you, move along. Thanks for the feeback though, I'll cherish it moving foward.

Why is everyone thinking he is going to Kentucky? Maybe he will but what happened that this thread took such a negative swing?

if Jay Hardy could be "committed" since June/July and do a 180 over 1 night on the plains.................no reason to think Baron is "solid" either.

I get that. But there is no reason to bash this kid based on the Hardy decision, which some seem to be doing.
sure there is. AP has been on the radio this week discussing how tentative TB's recruitment has been recently. everyone still thinks Baron is still a lean to TN.....but they said the same thing Monday night about Hardy. so, to say there's some second guessing going on would be an understatement.

and i don't know about bashing the kid. i think anxiety levels are waaaaaay up......and rightfully so to be honest.

I agree. Unless you're a kid who grew up with a lot of sentimental value towards UT, I see why in-state kids don't want to come here. It pains me to say that, but it's true. The West Tennessee kids are closer to the Mississippi schools, Arkansas, Alabama, and LSU than they are Knoxville anyway. The demography and geography of West Tennessee has more in common with those places than it does Knoxville as well.

Even a kid like Cade Mays who was effectively baptized into UT since birth didn't want to come here. It sucks.

JMO......... But most kids today either want to:
1. Win, or 2. Cool, new, and flashy. Right now, today, UT is neither.

So what are we calling the 17 kids who are committed to us right now?
VFLs baby.

It really does take a certain type of kid to commit to us right now. I think a lot of these kids, especially the top recruits, feel pressure from teammates, parents, other recruits, etc., to look elsewhere. If a 4 or 5-star with a great offer list commits to UT or says he is seriously considering UT, I'm sure he gets sideways looks from people, especially if that kid lives out of state. That kind of pressure, especially the peer pressure, can be a lot for a 17 or 18-year-old.

The kids committing to us now are probably doing so because they like the coach recruiting them more than they like the coaches who are recruiting them from the other schools. That has a lot to do with why any kid commits anywhere, though. Most of these kids are committing to a coach, not a school.
