'20 TN DT Omari Thomas (UT SIGNEE)

He said he’s excited about the chance to join Tennessee’s other eight in-state commitments in playing for his home-state school.

“You look at LSU, you look at Alabama, you look at Auburn, you look at Texas A&M, you look at Georgia — the majority of their players (are from) that state,” Thomas said. “I mean, of course, Auburn and Alabama have to split players. But it’s Alabama, and the majority of both of those teams are made up of players from Alabama. And then LSU is a prime example. The majority of the LSU team is from Louisiana.

“So I just feel like, if other teams are doing that, why not all Tennessee boys stay together and we can make Tennessee a powerhouse?”

Mentioned that the relationships with the other in-state recruits were important to O. I like that.

From Galilee on VQ:

This was a done deal when he canceled his trip to Fl. I learned on Friday that his OV to Auburn sealed the UT deal. I don’t want to get into what happened but sometimes things can backfire. David Johnson was huge here

This is very interesting. Just speculation here, but he's a Christian dude that goes to a Christian school. Auburn's slimy dealings must not have set well with him.

I am afraid he has dug himself into a hole he could not dig out of, IF he wanted to, and I have seen no reason to think it is even in consideration to flip.... I think we should let him know we are open if circumstances did change his mind but invest our time and effort on completing the class without him. Don't like loosing in state talent, but sometimes you just need to move on.
I was thinking along those lines too. We're over-playing our cards over Hardy and creating a negative image in his mind pertaing to UT. We're still in re-build mode as far as I'm concerned. We did manage to play competitive ball against UGA and Bama for three qtrs. but need to get over the hump by beating the better teams on our schedule.

Yeah and Auburn is the king of negative recruiting so they probably had some elaborate pitch that turned him off.

Gus and his staff are snakes.

Small is a done deal imo to get Thomas. Probably wanted to commit afterwards to make it look less like a package deal but both want to be at Tennessee.
Yea, the Memphis trio didn’t give up. I just got off of the phone again, and I can tell you that these Memphis recruits are all watching, being pressured right now.
