'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

That's fine because DTs split snaps anyways. Stop trying to mk this personal. You want to play with other highly rated guys to avoid all the focus being on you. Good business decisions by all of them.

I am ok with Walter going to A & M. We will see in 3 years where he is at as far as football goes and hopefully these guys don't or have someone else blow their NIL money. Some of the most lazy people I have seen in my field are those who make a big sale and then go live off of it for a few weeks then come back desperate to make more money because they stopped working and had fun and broke again. What I hate for these kids and we see it with rooks in the NFL is they just blow it. Add in the fact they are four years younger and parents who can take their cuts along with several others is going to cause some really lost opportunity. They do play in rotations on the DL but this class coming in will have competition in front and behind. I know Coach G will get who we need and the Vols will be fine.

Literally just announced a massive NIL program today…. Lol wtf is everyone fretting about

Yeah, I just hope it’s as massive and forward thinking as they made it sound. I did notice in the interview, the guy mentioned a couple times the importance of having state laws that allow the institution to be directly involved in NIL. You know the state of Alabama will, you know Texas will, every Tennessee fan in the state should let their representative know that we better allow the institution to be involved too.

Here's going to be the problem with how A&M is doing it. How do you motivate kids (or keep them motivated) to be their best if there is nothing to work towards. There is already a struggle, from a maturity aspect, with players getting big money with their first NFL contract. How do people expect 18-19 year old kids to do a better job? Particularly with no agents, no financial advisors, broke ass adults around them that can't manage money, etc. This is a sh!tstorm waiting to happen in College Station.

I was pretty worthless and imature at 18 and I was broke. I could only imagine how worthless I could be with a couple hundred grand in bank account.

That program matches player to money, but the bulk of money will be program specific, if UT doesn’t get some donors step up, then this program won’t do Jack for our players.
Yeah I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to be a Debbie downer.., but all today’s announcement shows is that we have a system in place for coordinating deal. Seems to me that we still need money to start flowing...

I'm not worried about this one. We'll either get him in this class or we'll get him from the portal next season after not being able to crack the two deep.
If he lives up to his ranking even remotely, he won't have trouble getting on the field anywhere in the country. DT isn't QB. There's gonna be at least 4 that play significant snaps.

On a side note I do think the transfer portal is gonna apply a swift and harsh market correction to any the NIL money going to recruits. Quinn Ewers just yoinked probably 2 million dollars without ever touching the field. That won't happen too many more times until boosters start saying "You get the check AFTER you put up some numbers".

Which is exactly how NIL should work. If you pay an 18 year old a bunch of NIL money who has zero value to you in their name, image, or likeness... Just so they come to your school... You deserve to watch them bounce a few months later.

Yeah Ewers got tOSU for 3 mil and played like 2 snaps in blow outs. Between crazy NILs and coaches salaries college football is headed for a major reset soon.

That's the thing parents are given their own money. So a guy we know in TX said that Ewers money is in a trust so he'll be straight. I do agree with you on it being blown. As a DT he will not be on the field every play. Also he will be held accountable for being in much better shape. It's really hard for a 360 lb kid to play every snap. That's what I don't get that people on a message board that were just screaming he's ours and the best now say he's not a can't miss. This crap has to stop.
