He was big in the game I had them earlier this year against Campbell County. CC refused to block him on kickoffs.
He'll probably dominate considering it's against Ooltewah and my guys over there have been screwed over so much. They used to be so good and now it's awful. Actually think the newer coach is solid but you can't work with what you don't have

If this kid is really 6’3” like it says in his max preps article a page back then does he project as an edge rusher or a linebacker at the next level? If his 247 page is right and he’s 6-1.5 213 then I see him more as a linebacker.

He's good but he's very small for an edge. Will probably have to transition to OLB at the next level. Not sure how much he fits into our 4-2-5 but some people going to go crazy over how we didn't offer a talented in-state kid

There's an assortment of body types that can be "edge"

WR and RB are probably the other positions that are the same way in that regard.

All those monster Bama 3-4 OLB had in the 2010s were edge guys.
Clowney at 6'6 270 was an edge.
D Freeney at 6'0 245 was an edge
Barkevous Mingo at 6'5 240 was an edge
All of our LEO are edge guys. Jack position are edge guys. Buck position in Muschamp defense were edge guys. Bandit position in the WVU 3-3-5 were edge guys.

Edge is recruitment designation vs all the position i listen above where players eventually start at.

This kid is 6'2 220 as a HS senior?
Very long arms which gives him the range of a taller guy.

A lot of people are confused about it. It's similar to the "ATH" designation.
It just means you're going to play at edge of the line of scrimmage...

Will Anderson is 6'4 245
He's an edge.
But he's listed as "OLB".

Eric Westmoreland was 6'1 225
Not an edge
But listed as OLB.

They're both OLBs but completely different responsibilities and types of player.
They're not interchangeable at all.

Tyler Barron at SDE is still an edge guy.
When he was at LEO, he was an edge guy.

A DE like Baron is different than an EDGE. EDGE are your stand up pass rushers. Like 3-4 OLBs

Not always.
For example the 3-4 DE are basically DTs.
Our 4-2-5 SDE is still responsible for containment of the edge vs the 3-4 DEs that are gap control.

But you didn't mention my previous point about you differentiating from OLB and EDGE.

Not trying to start anything. But a lot of people are confused about what an edge is.

All that matters is what qualifies as an EDGE in OUR defense. Majority of the guys we target are at least 6'4" with long, lanky builds.

That's not really the point I was making for him. He's a big boy. He can speak for himself 🙄.

His wording and possibly understanding of that "position " is missing some details. That's all.

And OLB is always going to be an OLB.
an edge is just sometimes an outside OLB.

I think if someone is going to make a career in evaluating a position they should at the very least know the subtleties??

I wasn't defending anyone's opinion. My point was, while what you said was valid overall, the designation of EDGE as a whole vs that distinction for our defense (and various other defenses) is not the same. You explained this yourself in detail. With that being said, there is clearly a specific body type that this staff looks for to fit what they envision for this defense.
