what does a college degree bring to the table? You may not like Rush and Earnhardt as examples, but neither would have reached the pinnacle of their respective professions without an incredible amount of drive and ability. Things that a college degree doesn't necessarily confer on somebody. I know people with masters degrees who are driving trucks.
I can point to at least 400 idiots in Washington DC that do have degrees, most of them law degrees.
but it doesn't make it untrue! everything in that story is legit
This is a pathetic argument. I'm quite sure a college degree is not going to be helpful in being a race car driver or a radio talk show host. However, jobs in the Executive branch of the state or country are 1) much more important as they directly affect people. 2.) require much more knowledge than it takes to operate a radio show or drive a race car.
Wow, this college degree thing has really incited a passionate reponse. It's hard to comment on that, because sometimes a degree means something, and sometimes it does not. I graduated from UT with degrees in Broadcasting and Political Science, and it's proven almost daily that I can be an idiot.
I had heard that Wamp supported federal funding for the cash for clunkers, and that Haslam was against guns in bars. Other than that, I really don't know a lot about their stance on the issues. I've heard folks bashing Haslam, but never really been given a reason why. Calling him Corker 2.0 doesn't mean anything. Why do you think that?
You place far too much value on a degree.
what type of executive experience does a college degree confer? Does a phD in medieval German architecture somehow gift a potential politician with leadership or executive experience? How about an associates degree in medical transcription?
I'd rather have someone who'd spent 20 or 30 years in the military as President than anybody with Obama's alleged academic pedigree.
