I think he is good for football but the reality is…DS has always been about DS. He has a constant chip on his shoulder. That schtick gets old. Nothing but self promotion.
He will probably have to do more of that to help Colorado’s visibility, however, his antics are Butch Jones like. Self promoting car salesmen
It’s all over the smallest of details too.. on all of their “offer” edits, it says “offered by coach prime”, not “offered by the university of Colorado”… I don’t know if he’s doing purposefully but I get the vibe he’s trying to make himself seem bigger than the school. Colorado is down right now but that football program was here long before Prime and will be here long after he leaves them high and dry in a few years..

Wow. Didn’t know that. Yep…definitely par for the course.

I agree with most of that. Furthermore, I question if he can coach a team whose athletes are inferior to maybe equal that if his opponents. What he did at JSU was cool, but he didn’t play anyone and when he did he lost. They almost lost to Campbell and beat a bad TSU team by 13 in a close game. How will he fare against Utah and Oregon and Oregon St?

Brought in some quality offensive and defensive minds with his coordinator hires. Will hinge on his position coaches as far as individual development.

This is about as dumb of a statement as I’ve ever heard. If you think what YOU gathered from my comment was anywhere near what your response to me is….then I know you come by your statement honestly.
Perhaps you can clarify what it is that you’re interpreting as self-promotion then?

Pompous, conceited, … I should stop. Those were the redeeming qualities.
More flamboyant than anything, but I didn’t really talk to all that much. He stopped by a couple of titans games we worked. Liked to let everyone know what all he had going on, and how much his watch cost. But seemed like a decent guy, just have to know that 70-80% of what he says is BS lol

He took a bad HBCU team and made them into a top 10 team. Maybe 90% was recruiting, but if he can get kids to JSU, he can get them Colorado. Plus, he has a solid staff. Good talent and a good staff allows him to be the CEO…..which he will excel at!

I’m not sure why some posters don’t consider recruiting a part of being the HC. They knock guys like Kirby and Saban and say they only win bc of talent. Well who the heck do you think acquired the talent and then got them all to buy in?

Agreed saban on video dancing this weekend with recruits

Kirby and Saban can coach and develop. Those that think they are consistently winning on talent alone are in denial. Deion is not great at X's and O's. We will see what type of CEO he is at the P5 level. He will no doubt aquire talent but we shall see what the on field product is like.

JSU isn’t beating a single team in the top 10. Ever…

No doubt JSU was awful. They aren’t that good: the record is a fairy tale. They don’t play anybody worth a dang in the FCS. Looking at his staff, who do you think is “Good”? I don’t see anyone I would like to poach. Brewster is nothing special. Charles Kelly is horrible. Taggert is a program torpedo. Maybe his JSU guys are good.

I would say for a college head coach, recruiting is one of the biggest and most important parts of being a head coach. Let’s face it. If you wanna win championships you gotta be able to recruit at an elite level a la Saban and Smart.
