The AL of the past will never be the same in the future. Hate it or love it…the transfer portal has leveled the playing field in CFB and will hurt the tater diggers the most. No more hoarding talent. This kid today is a corner stone, not just a commitment.

The question will be how fast can they get on the field. With our offense, we can afford some growing pains playing young guys on defense early. Our activity level of defensive portal guys will let us know if we expect to play alot of young players next year. Personally, I'm all for them playing early and often.
I don't think we'll see much defensive portal activity until after ESD. Even then it may only be 3-4 guys max on defense. Small offensive signing class is likely to mean more portal spots used there. I also think they are bringing in so many for bowl practices to get an idea of how many might be able to contribute next season.

I’d make it not fair for her.

Kids are buying the vision. What some people are missing is that this is a top 10 class, but it's nearly all defense. We have a few bona-fide studs on offense, but the defense has playmakers at every level. It's crazy to have a class that you could realistically see 10-11 starters on defense in a single class. And these guys eat their wheaties and put muscle on, learn the playbook in 2023 and ready to compete for the newly expanded playoff in 2024 as

Agreed. And don't be surprised if we like what we see we only bring in 1 or 2 guys defensively. Could see a draft eligible Corner and/or DL being the only additions.

Guys huepel has been successful everywhere he's been but he's a fraud. Also Knoxville is such a terrible place.
We were at Outback a few weeks ago, bunch of people were sitting at the bar for dinner cause they were packed. I heard a couple telling someone they were from so-and-so school and their team was here to play a local school. They looked a little stressed trying to hurry up and get to the game, so I had the server add their bill to ours. I said, "Y'all can go on, we've got your check." And he looked at me said, "Why would you do that?" Only thing I could think of to say was, "Just remember Chattanooga fondly." Their team got beat 42-17. lol

Recruits can think of the tide fondly while they beat that ass.

Absolutely correct. Just look at the 4* and 5* in the portal transferring from Alabama. NIL deals and xfer portals mean these kids aren't going to wait in line at Bama for two or three years behind other 5*s waiting their turn. It's no longer advantageous. The NIL, as much as I don't like what it's become so quickly, means school's like Tennessee, et al that have a lot of money can play the same game now. Shows how much Bama has gotten away with the old McDonald's bag trick for decades.
