Solid article about the Howard decommitment from MSU and the battle between Tennessee and Vanderbilt for his services in today's edition of the Knoxville News Sentinel.

RC says he’s headed to Vandy this wkend for their game vs TX.

Also Memphis is a dark horse to get a visit and not to discount that FedEx NIL money.

Vols looking to add 1 maybe 2 more LBs to class.
I would say Memphis doesnt stand a chance if it comes down to NIL based on the saga with the basketball player

I believe AP mentioned someone from Wisconsin or committed to WI that UT liked more.

RC was saying they’d take maybe 2 more LBs but I feel like maybe he mentioned this Wisconsin kid or maybe that was AP I heard on another pod. AP say only 1 more?

RC says they ideally want 1-2 more LBs so I don’t think it’s a bigger fish situation.

Bigger fish either now or in the offseason in the portal.

If a Tennessee kid is picking between miss state or Andy over Tennessee, then it just means Tennessee didn’t give the green light. Thus, whomever we get in their place is a bigger fish to our staff.

Good for him if he commits to Vandy. I don't blame a guy that wants to play meaningful snaps before he's a soph/jr. He will be behind, Carter, Telander, Perry from the start. Gass & Harmon aren't bottom feeders either.

How would you compare Howard and Anes?
I would say Howard is an explosive downhill run stopper type and Anes is more so a versatile do-it-all type guy. Both the same size at 6'3/220. Anes has more long speed and could be good in pass coverage I think. Page, much like Riverdale did with the Herrings, likes to use their best linebackers off the edge so that's Anes is a lot of the time but they let him do a bunch of things. Super athletic. Was best player on field last year in 5A state championship

Awesome stuff thanks! Prefer Anes with those evals, without a doubt.

Heard any buzz about him visiting?

Linebackers coach William Inge will be in west and middle Tennessee. He will see Austin Howard on Friday morning and then head to the game of Brandon Anes Friday night. Howard certainly feels like he may end up at Vanderbilt with the Commodores being his initial commitment before flipping to Mississippi State.

I think he is better than the other instate LB we got. Hopefully this wasn't a situation where we picked the other guy over Howard. Vandy got a steal here. I hope we don't regret losing this kid. He looks like a baller.

Thanks for giving your view so now everyone will be happy that he committed to Vandy rather than UT.

Anes is faster and more athletic. That shows up more on the college level because it’s needed in pass coverage. See Saturday…our LBs were getting roasted by TEs on seam patterns.
