TN moves to last team into NCAA T. (as of 9:15)pm

The reasonable posters have been saying "see what happens" all damn season. Can't just claim the season as a failure after every loss.

I have never claimed the season "a failure." Disappointing for sure, but a failure no because I believe we had to completely scrap our game plan when Maymon decided to red shirt.

After losing to Georgia it would take a miracle to get us into the field. Maybe I'm wrong, or just skeptical.

Bull****. No truly reasonable person saw much hope when the team was 11-10.

Lol it wasn't that surprising considering we did the same damn thing last year.

All I did was let them play. I wasn't claiming the season as a failure after every loss, unlike a substantial chunk of posters here.

So yeah, when were 11-10, I made a thread saying we shouldn't panic, and see what happens. If we would have kept sucking, then yeah, there would be little hope. All I did was give them a chance.

They have been trumped by the "experts" at ESPN who positively knew we were one of the last four out on Saturday morning, and then after losing we are the last team in.

Lunardi: He has everyone wanting to buy his bottled air! The great thing about all of this is that no one can prove him wrong!

Lets not get to excited since Lunardi isn't the one who will decide TN fate. After today's loss, they have zero room for error and must win the next 2 games. Play like they did today and its 0-2. Play like they did vs FL and they could be dancing. Hope the right team shows up this coming week.

True. It seems like we go as Golden goes. He plays well, we win. If he doesn't, we lose.

Well, as the point guard goes, so the team goes, a lot of the time. In our system, Trae has to play well. The offense never even gets started without him--it's just Mcrae making great one-on-one plays and Jarnell wishing there wasn't always four guys within five feet of him.

True, but then why did each losing to Ark/UGA change that for Lunardi? UK was in and we weren't before those two games.

I agree with you guys, but it doesn't make sense from Lunardi's previous bracket.

Because he's evaluating KY on post Noel, that loss and any loss makes UK look bad than a team being evaluated on a whole season. I hope that makes sense?

Didn't the announcers for the game even say UT needs to make it to the SEC champ game now..

Please tell me you're not gonna go off what the legendary SEC network announcers said? Hell, they can't even get the names right playing the game they're calling.

Just wrong.

This isn't meant against you, but people who don't follow this sport religiously are pretty short sighted. When you look at other bubble teams, they're not that good either, or they wouldn't be bubble teams.

Go look at RPI rankings...we are 4th in the SEC behind UK and UK is being evaluated lost Noel which puts us ahead of them.

People think, OMG we lost to Georgia we are done...well ole miss goes and loses to Mississippi state 100x worse. Baylor loses at home to Kansas State, can't lose home games as a bubble team.

Maybe I'll work on this later so it's handy, but if you compare our resume to most of the bubble teams, you'd be surprised to see that ours is better than most.

Pitt hit a 3 with 30 secs to go to tie it and send the Nova game into OT. Pitt won in OT. This moves TN up a spot to "2nd from last team in."

Go ahead and plagiarize my stuff from the Poll thread to get the losses data for your analysis. I can also go ahead and tell you that we are the only bubble team with a top 10 RPI win (and will be the only one unless KY beats Fla next Sat).

In short, we are probably in if we beat Mizzou and Auburn +1, and probably out if we lose any of the next 3. We have all our competitors edged on most quality wins and least bad losses, and have almost everyone in the entire field beaten on Last 10 games momentum. We just need to hold serve versus Aub, MO, and the Vandy/aTm/LSU survivor. We would then probably face either Bama or KY and would survive a close loss to either (though a second Bama loss scares me).

Yes, Villanova's loss to Pitt a few minutes ago really helps. Here's a handy list of "teams to cheer against" over the next week:

Kentucky
Villanova
Iowa State
Wichita State
Temple
Belmont
Mississippi
Alabama
Baylor
Boise State

PLUS - cheer for all favorites in a one-bid conferences. We need NO upsets that force the committee to make choices of whether or not to include an extra Bucknell in the field. If a team in a one-bid conference won the regular season title, all good Vol fans are cheering for it in the conference tournament, to maximize the number of at-large bids available.

Why Belmont? We want them to win.

Why Belmont? We want them to win.

I believe Belmont is looking at a possible at large if they don't win they conference tourney. So if they lose before their conference tourney, it'll force them to have to win their conference tourney to get in, eliminates a bubble team.
