In your opinion who has the 2nd best win of the season? If it’s not UGA is their win over Oregon’s in your top 5?
In the SEC or all of CFB?
I do not think Oregon has proven themselves to be a good team. OTOH, Utah has. They've beaten both UCLA and USC. Even though a much tighter game, UF beat a team we know can beat other top teams.
The best win on Oregon's schedule was just pounded by Arkansas.
And honestly they don’t have to beat anyone to prove they are a great team.
Of course they do. That's ridiculous. They won last year then lost almost their whole team. There's no guarantee that their replacements are just "plug and play" or have the leadership and chemistry last year's team had.
They have dominated recruiting the last 3-4 years and won the national title less than a year ago.
LOL. You think talent alone makes a great team? In 247's composite roster rankings... Texas A&M is 4th... currently sporting a 3-3 record. Texas at 5-2 is 6th. LSU is 8th. OU is 9th. Notre Dame is 10th. So five of the top 10 are fairly average or even bad teams.
If winning on NSD meant winning on gameday... UT would have won a lot of games over the past 15 years.
I still think we should be 1 and UGA should be 2. I was just making an argument for their schedules. If UGAs schedule doesn’t deserve to be top 4 then whose does?
To "deserve" it or to not deserve it... they first have to be challenged. UT has been challenged.
Of course none of that has to do with polls. Polls are purely the product of media opinion. In my youth, polls continually put Nebraska and OU near the top. The only real game they played all year was against each other. Neither challenged themselves very often with tough OOC opponents. They each played 10 scrimmages then played each other to go to the Orange Bowl. Pollsters had no problem ranking them in the top 5 year after year.
I say that to say this. If poll voters don't mind UGA playing a lame schedule and playing pretty poorly against some bad teams then the polls are going to rank them highly regardless of who deserves more or less.
Like I've said several times. I do not trust the media. Political or sports media.
