TN OL Chris Morris (Texas A&M commit - Now JUCO)

Might be a case of Morris telling whomever is interviewing him what they want to hear. Pandering to fan bases, per se.

Chris says a lot of things that are all over the place. He told me his five official visits some time early in May, then later that week said Florida was his leader when they weren't even one of the schools that he told me would get official visits.

Based on what I've been told recently, A&M is the team to beat at this juncture with Arkansas also heavily involved, but as I said, things can change on a daily basis with him.

Y'all, it's gonna be May for another few months. It seems like all these kids are waiting to see what we do on the football field. The solace we can take is that 'commitments' are more and more fluid and decommits happen all the time. If we go 7-5 and get a favorable bowl match-up, I could see us making some noise again. It's just not gonna happen until there's a fresh product on the field.

I know there has been some talk about Auburn and Chris saying they are #2, but I don’t believe that to be the case. I think that is all gamesmanship with the quote. I’ve talked to multiple people today and Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama are way more of a threat than Auburn. Clemson has entered the picture along with OSU. Bama has re-emerged to join TN and Texas A&M. Long way to go in this one and it will have plenty of twists and turns.

But can they incessantly complain until then? Please?

What is this creepy, 1980s-esque obsession with in state kids committing to UT? Guess what boomers, kids like new experiences & come from all over the country now. Give it up, in state kids go elsewhere, some come here, some come from Georgia (H. Bailey, Wanya), West Virginia (D. Wright), California (To'oto'o) and elsewhere. These TN kids have grown up knowing UT has sucked FAT clackers - using the tactic of come play for your home state doesnt work anymore.

I honestly don't think we should consider Memphis kids in-state. Not because of the city itself, but because it is so far away, geographically. Indianapolis is just as close to Knoxville as Memphis is. To use Memphis kids as an example of in-state kids not liking our coaching staff ranks as one of the stupidest arguments ever.

Yeah, Swain event was discussing how long the drive feels. Said it just doesn't feel like UT territory when making the trip.

I get your point but Chicago is definitely farther than Memphis is haha

You and those instate players can leave. Don't need ya.

Don't get mad at me it's not like I am the one tell them not to come. I'm just relaying info was giving to me. I can tell you one thing the hire of Coach Derrick Ansley is going to pay off HUGE!! The kids l spoke to loves the man.

Who are the kids you spoke to?

It's definitely tougher to sell a Memphis recruit on UT because of location. But the problem with this one is that schools just as far or farther from Memphis are his top schools (aside from Alabama if they are really a choice).

Understand but the point he was making was that we don't have a "home school" advantage with many Memphis kids.

Yep, it's tougher. There is still about 9% of UT's undergrad population from Shelby County each year- second leading county.

But, overall, it is definitely tougher to get a kid from Memphis. But, I think we should have a slight edge over A%M, which is further, and Auburn and Arkansas, which are just as far.
