After MacIntyre revealed his commitment, Volquest caught up with On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power, who shared his insight on the elite prospect.

“George MacIntyre has a lot of translatable tools and skills that make him one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle,” Power said. “I think starting off, having seen MacIntyre on film and in two live games to this point, he has very good arm talent. This is a guy who is sound mechanically, throws a really tight ball and can deliver it to different areas of the field with velocity and touch. We really like the way he layers his passes. He can change speeds on the ball and push the ball down the field. In large part due to his mechanics, can hit some tight windows in the middle of the field as well. You watch his film and there is a lot of high level throws and he has a variety of throws in his bags. I think he is a very good functional athlete at the position for his height. He moves well in the pocket and you see him make defenders miss. He avoids pass rushers and can step up in the pocket and extends the play. He looks to throw first in those scenarios. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, he can pick up first downs with his legs. I think his athleticism transfers over to the field in a very functional way. Was productive as a Junior and played on Brentwood Academy team that struggled to protect him at times. In watching the majority of his games, George MacIntyre was the reason they were in those games. “

MacIntyre also stars as a basketball player, and Power said that is a trend that has stood out among elite quarterbacks of late.

“At his height, he is a good 6-6, and he has room to pack on good weight,” Power continued. “As an overall prospect, we love that he is such a good basketball player. There is a strong correlation with quarterbacks. You see a lot of those guys that are good basketball players and it helps with depth perception and spatial awareness and two recent examples are C.J. Stroud and Drake Maye. C.J. Stroud was a pull up jump shooter. Drake Maye was an elite basketball. I think Maye and MacIntyre are similar as basketball players and overall field skillsets as well.”

MacIntyre’s overall skillset translates to Tennessee very well, according to Power.

“He is ranked as one of the top quarterbacks in the country for a reason,” Power added. “He is a big get for Tennessee. He is highly coveted and was at or near the top for most of the college programs recruiting him. Big statement win for Tennessee. I think bringing him in behind Nico Iamaleava, who looked sensational in the bowl game, and then Jake Merklinger who is really steady and solid, then adding MacIntyre who physically reminds you of Nico. I think it has been a sensational a run of quarterbacks for Tennessee. You really want to stack talent at that position given the nature of the portal. I think being able to bring in a blue chip quarterback at the most important position for Tennessee in three straight classes is big for Tennessee. I think he protects well in Heupel’s offense when you look at the way he delivers the ball to all levels of the field, his ability to scramble, and and his functional athletic ability.”
