Let me just say this. On 247 he’s the 14th highest rated recruit ever at Tennessee. With all the complaining about Heup’s recruiting I bet yall didn’t realize he has landed 4 of the top 25 recruits in the all time list of vols. 3rd-Nico, 14th-George, 16th- Mike Matthews, and 25th-Jordan Ross.

Pretty interesting for sure. Where would Zalance Heard land on that list if he had been in the 23 class?

Not to diminish this but to be fair - they’ve only tracked that since like 2002 or so, and we’ve been ass most od the past two decades.

In other words - guys like Jamal Lewis, Peyton manning, Reggie White, etc aren’t rated/ranked. So top 25 “all time” is misleading.

I mean that’s true but how many coaches have we had since 2002, and how many players have we had come through here since 2002. Heupel has landed 4 out of the top 25 since 2002. That’s still a really big deal.

Two thoughts:

1. This is the type of big time in state player that we lose out on in the past. Glad to be back to landing these special instate talents.

2. Landing another special 5 star QB talent perhaps takes away some of the pressure on CJH to produce a championship or bust with NICO.
