So much this. Get the perception going in the right direction and the media (and fan base for that matter) gets behind the program. Lose most of this "great" in-state class and all we will hear is how Heupel can't recruit and he "can't close the borders".I think it’s a big deal to start signing the guys we want instate. We have to start somewhere and establishing relationships in the right places will payoff in the long term even if it doesn’t this cycle. We need to get to a point where it’s a big deal when they don’t sign with us and not the other way around. For right or wrong, I think perception goes a long way.
soo many of us still look at this as a permanent decision, kids can transferHe’s not a Bama lock like some of the experts are predicting.
The fact he’s still talking to Heupel regularly, means he’s still considering the Vols.
I know we suck right now but Simpson’s heart obviously belongs to Tennessee.
VolsBrooks5: If Tennessee were to land Simpson, what in-state guys do you think it could move the needle with that Simpson has a good relationship with?
Callahan: I think it would help at least a little bit with some of Simpson's 7-on-7 teammates, a group that includes Cameron Miller, Dallan Hayden, Isaiah Horton and Myles Pollard. I certainly wouldn't assume that everyone in the state would suddenly want to follow him to Tennessee. But there are some guys like that who know Simpson well and, because of his stature as a prospect, would be impressed by the Vols landing him. Simpson picking UT would make it seem a little cooler to consider going there, if nothing else.
He could be going to Bama, but still not a “Bama lock”, at this point. But just because he hasn’t already committed to Bama isn’t any indication that Tuscaloosa isn’t his ultimate destination. Your original wording would seem to imply that if he were going to choose Bama, then he’d have done it by now. If your intention was to say he’s not a Bama lock, then your wording was vague, almost indicating that the fact that he hasn’t publicly committed to Bama, already, almost eliminated them from consideration. He’s not a Bama lock like some of the experts are predicting.

Just watched the offensive staff press conference! If Ty watched and i bet he did or has if he wants to play and has the intelligence to play for Coach Hype he should be a lock. Cody Brown leaving is dumb and if he cant see the opportunity here i am glad he is gone. If someone does not want to work then go somewhere else!
I'm not sure Brown leaving was entirely his own idea.Just watched the offensive staff press conference!
