Normally I'd agree but I don't think you can have too many quarterbacks these days and we have certainly seen the consequences of not having a good one in the years between Dobbs and Hooker. Most big time recruits think they'll win the competition anyway because they always have, so bring it on is their attitude often times. I just think it'd be pretty silly to turn Simpson down if he wanted to get on board.I want someone that's been bought in from almost the very beginning. It's a fan narrative...this "scared of competition" crap. The wife beater that helped end Urban's tenure used it towards anybody that didn't choose the Buckeyes. It's about investment. Jackson has OPTIONS so acting like we do can lose one.
In theory I couldn’t disagree, but hoarding that position in practice isn’t reality. Too many programs want the ONE and are ready and waiting. You’re more apt to lose 2 than double up. And every QB worth their salt will employ the company line of thinking they’ll win the competition, but when the mics are off why throw in with a program that isn’t 100% on you? When there are multiple programs that are?Normally I'd agree but I don't think you can have too many quarterbacks these days and we have certainly seen the consequences of not having a good one in the years between Dobbs and Hooker. You made this same argument during the Harrison Bailey/Haynes King recruitments. I agreed with that opinion then and now. In this day and age, these players don’t see it as just competition, but a lack of faith of the staff. Now, if we brought in a grad transfer or a portal guy, he may view it as he may view it as he just needs time to learn and develop before he takes over.In theory I couldn’t disagree, but hoarding that position in practice isn’t reality. Tayven appears very level headed and realistic. A bridge QB isn’t a lack of faith that makes one second guess. On point with the learning and developing. I know Teague pretty well and was a stud at USJ. Two big OL and a freak athlete. A QB though? Kinda scares me a little. Not saying Ty is going to be great at all. Kids cant help who their competition is. Trey Teague, Trey Smith, and Patrick Willis played Single A football in West TN.
