'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

I’m not arguing with anyone that says alabama doesn’t know how to recruit.. I can’t talk brain cells into anybody’s head
Once again, I don’t think the subject was RECRUITING. Just that even the best don’t always select the best starter…at least initially. Barnett won the starting job in the offseason by dominating PRACTICE. First GAME in he lost it when Hurts outperformed him on the field.

To defend AP a little here, that's really taken out of context and wasn't even a response to a question about Ty Simpson. He was asked about the overall sentiment for the Vols on the recruiting trail and said the tide has turned and then went on to talk about how they're getting positive momentum because they're able to show what they can actually do on the field at Tennessee and not just talk about plans and previous stops.

The "Tide has turned" statement wasn't even about Ty Simpson.
Doesn’t matter. He will forever be blamed for not telling someone’s fortune.

Didn't know that. My comment was uncalled for. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
I wasn’t flaming you. Information is a good thing. When my daughter was younger, we’d watch real life dramatization shows and make comedies out of them. I was making (I thought) funny comments about this man who was attacked by a bear. Then they went into detail how the bear tore his face off along with a lot of his scalp and he barely lived to painfully recover in a scarred (both mentally and physically) existence…true story. 😔

Today per AP “Tennessee has not talked to the Simpsons.”
and regarding the whole statement, the last sentence of that statement had an AV like head scratcher at the end IMHO !

AP said:
.....just think since these posts are made…it’s best to be fair to the kid snd call it the way it is. Ty is and has always been a player
.

Recruiting is exactly what it was about. People saying Simpson sucks, and me saying that alabama wouldn’t recruit him if he sucked

Read back and don’t see it the same way. No one’s slighting Saban’s recruiting chops.

The point was Bama has recruited QBs that suck. Maybe Simpson doesn’t end up sucking. But Saban has not been infallible in his QB evaluations.
That’s how I read your point. Just because he recruits you doesn’t mean you’re rubberstamped for greatness. It’s a byproduct of easily landing who the services declare as great. Sometimes THEY don’t project it right.

I don't think very many are saying Simpson sucks. He may be great, but level of competition hasn't proven it and neither does committing to Bama.

Would seem to go against...collegiate offers...scout evals/rankings...elite 11 performances, etc, no? Just sayin. Unless we are better evaluators than college staffs, that's a tough one to believe, no matter the chance he obviously has at becoming the better QB in the end.

He said a better athlete, not a better QB. In your eye, is Simpson closer to a Hooker or a Bailey? More about fit than QBR. The kid and his family have made their decision, our staff does not appear to want to pander to see if they are wavering on their decision. Now, get them to initiate a conversation about UT interest and things might change. Our bird in hand seems to be a fit, so let's move on till there is a real reason to do something different. Hate it when in state kids don't WANT to be VOLS, but it is what it is. Not like his Dad is not a good source about what is better for his son's career. Let's all wish him good health, no more, and move on. Giving up the chance to be an in state hero must mean they were confident in their risk/reward analysis and probably will not be trumped by any uninvited sales pitch. I am guessing there are a handful of other prospects this staff would prefer in their system that won't be coming here either. Some may even be in the next class and might not want to crowd the room this cycle. Room is a little thin for next year, but there may be more versatile solutions to back up our returnees and Jackson.

This bull crap thread has got way out of control. Ty has committed somewhere else and I think as Volnation we got a little butt hurt. Too many feelings being worn on our shoulders.

So you're on a first name basis?
Anyway...these things were said before he committed elsewhere. And fans have deep, emotional feelings for their teams because they're fanatics, and they will respond as though they do. Even if mustard is necessary.
