So the spread was 21 n we lost by 24 so that is a good performance???

Explain please.... I just don't get that. Did we look better at times..yes Did we do anything special no.. Based on Vegas we underperformed..

Reality is we sux n 6 wins will be hard... With a small margin of error but we will have to see.
Have you seen the rest of the East play?

Worley amazed me last night with his toughness and maturity. He must have amazed Stoops too, since he sought him out to compliment him.

Hurd is a superstar in the making.

Sadly, I disagree.

He will be productive, but not great. And I hate to say that.

He go to the second level and open field twice last night and I did not see anything really dynamic out of him once he reached the open field.

I really hoped he would be our next great back...a Lewis, Cobb, Webb, Garner, etc...but I don't see it.

Don't show your ignorance. Compare the OL they had with what Hurd has and get back with me.

Half of these kids were in high school last year. We were 1 play away from it being a 10 point game in the 4tb quarter against a OU team that is one of the best teams in the country. A top 5 team on the road and our defense allowed one TD in the 2nd half. This team has improved so much from last year. We were just overmatched this year against them guys.

FYI they come to our house next year!

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will have 3 to 4 new to their OL and I sure they won't be able to hear the snap count.. All of our young players will have to a chance to work on their bodies and before even faster and stronger...

Sorry, but losing by 24, scoring a whopping 10 points, averaging barely 4 yards per play, giving up nearly 7 yards per play, and being down by double digits almost the entire game is not representing Tennessee football "VERY well." We can't even cover a big spread anymore, and it's just one more example of us looking like a has-been program not a to-be program.

Said it before, I'll say it again. Stupidity should be painful. If it was, waterhead mouthbreathing meth head POSs like "VegasVol" wouldn't be able to function daily.

I think some of you forget that we were 3 yards away form a 27-17 game. The 24 point victory is an illusion of a dominant win...we fought them face to face the entire game.

Believe we are on the radar again. The announcers made that pretty clear. Proud to be a Vol this morning.

Completely agree with the OP.

The water head negavols that speak from emotion rather than facts and knowledge on this site need to come to grips with reality.

1. We had two passes in the endzone that could have gone our way. If they do, we are sitting on a score of 24-27 in the fourth quarter of a tight game with a top 5 team we were supposed to lose to by 21 points...
2. 18 year old freshmen against seniors and redshirt seniors simply do not have the same amount experience or strength. This does not mean our coaches are bad, it means we are rebuilding.
3. Our defense rocks and never quit tonight. Good coaching will keep a kid from quitting.
4. The talent on this team is vastly improved.
5. The real VOL fans were in Norman tonight and showed this team the love it deserves.

Most rational and accurate post of the night!
Thank you op!

Vegas has their head up their mud holes. Those idiots have cost me big time the past 2 weeks in my college pick em league. Based on last night, not considering the horrible play calling on offense, we can hang with anyone in the SEC East. Who knows what will happen in the East this year.

Who were afraid of looking biased to the SEC, so they chose not to call the muggings going on out there.

Ain't that the truth? I saw more holding going on than I think I ever have that wasn't called. OU got one holding call against them and I saw stretched white jerseys all damn night. What garbage.

It is a sad sign of the times when we get beaten that badly on national TV and find solace that it could have been worse.

The negavols in this thread are almost hilarious, almost. Just wonder how many actually watched the game and how many just saw the score and maybe the stats and then came on here to complain.
This isn't the UT of 10 years ago and its gonna take time to get back there. This team showed something that we haven't seen in the last 5 years. A team that can be losing by more than 1 score and still play hard. A team that doesn't go into a game against a top 5 team with an attitude of we've already lost or they're too good so why even try.

Come back when you can read. My comments completely absolved Hurd of anything having to do with offensive line play. Bet you were a previous Dooley honk.

He had 97 yards against one of the best front 7's in the country, and you are going to write him off as a bust 3 games into his career. Smh
