‘23 TN SDE Nathan Robinson (Tennessee commit)

No matter what, no matter what...ALWAYS going to have someone wake up and say, "yep, I'm gonna be that guy today". I am convinced, on the night we win the SEC here in about 2 to 3 years, there will be someone, either here or in the FF, still talking about Butch Jones and Jarrett Gaurantano, and blaming it on their "BVS".
The night the Vols won it all in 98, there were complaints on some forums. I learned eventually that they need this for themselves. 😴

Late to the party here, but I really like this pickup. Until we start winning consistently we are going to have a hard time winning recruiting battles for the fully developed 5-star D-linemen against teams like UGA, Bama, aTm, Ohio State, etc., even with Rodney Garner on staff. We are going to have to find guys like this who have flown under the radar and are late bloomers physically that have big-time traits they haven’t quite grown into yet. The guy was playing LB last season and has now put on 30 lbs with a 6’6” frame and long arms? He’s 270 now and may be pushing three bills before he even gets into a college S&C program. I love the thought of raw material like this in Garner’s hands to develop over a couple years.

Big boom!

I think they need me to rub some sunblock on them.

I think he stays on defense. Not moving a kid with this level of potential to OT. He's 270 now and hasn't lost any quickness. And.... he looks slim. Imagine a 6'5" 285lb SDE that can also rush the passer.
I like his athleticism. Just not seeing college pass rusher type ability. For example Tyler Barron was a much better pass rusher at the same stage. And he's been decent in college. Not great, but contributes and is good locker room guy.

This kid is long and has good feet with a mean streak. But the burst to close the pocket? Not seeing it...

His experience as a pass rusher could help him as OT though. And a good OT is worth more than any other position save QB. So it wouldn't be a waste at all...

You’re acting like UGA, BAMA, UF don’t all have *multiple* 6’5” 285 SDEs… this isn’t some massive recruiting win lol. Glad he’s on board though, RG can coach him into a great player for sure.

Georgia and Bama run a 3-4 defense. Totally different animal. When they go to 4 down linemen, they don't have 285lb guys on the outside. You're saying these schools have multiple JJ Watt type players on there rosters every year, which is laughable.

Baron had much better coaching and supporting cast in high school. This kid has also been mostly playing OLB. He's a 3*, so comparing him to someone that was nearly rated a 5* in high school isn't apples to oranges. This is about potential, and the raw material is there for him to be dangerous in 2-3 years.

True, he was watching film of a LB that played a few snaps in a 4 man front, let's see him work at this weight this year from DE, I bet he gets his fair share of sacks, the man dives and throws his body around like an animal, don't see what others are seeing at all

I agree. We just disagree on where his potential is best suited.

Personally, I prefer we take in-state guys that are under the radar but very talented and then cherry pick the top players from GA, GA, Carolinas etc.

It's a good pick up. Be interesting to see how develops.
